via Investopedia Automakers General Motors and Stellantis are getting almost $1.1 billion in grants from the White House to convert “at-risk” plants into electric vehicle related production facilities, the U.S. Department of Energy said Thursday. The funding is part of $1.7 billion in total allocated for the conversion of 11 such plants across eight states, which the DOE expects to lead to the retention of 15,000 existing union jobs and the creation of nearly 3,000 new ones. Ford Sales Accelerate in 2024:    Ford continues to lead non-Tesla U.S. sales, growing 65% in just May 2024. Earlier this year, the company slashed prices, citing a lack of demand. Though Ford is expecting to lean into hybrid models, their all-electric options are seeing record highs. The F-150 Lightning, with its new "Flash" trim, longer-range battery, and new tech inside, is up almost 80% in sales. Kerrigan Advisors is pleased to release the results of our 2024 OEM Survey, designed to gauge OEM executives' perspectives on the franchise system, dealer profitability and EV sales. This one-of-a-kind survey provides a critical window into the perspectives of OEM executives whose views are not often shared publicly in the industry. This year’s survey results demonstrate that OEM executives have a largely positive outlook regarding the health of the auto retail industry, expecting auto retail earnings to normalize at higher levels as new vehicle sales rebound and new vehicle gross margins remain above pre-pandemic levels. The results also make clear the industry’s transition to EVs will be much slower than originally projected and that OEMs are preparing necessary contingency plans for increased internal combustion engine (ICE) production to meet consumer demand and the US auto market reality.
