This article from Black Enterprise Magazine came at the right time! As the former Executive Director and now CEO of End Rape On Campus (EROC), I've had the privilege of working with various leadership coaches. Today, my needs as a leader have evolved, and I'm at a critical juncture in my journey of rebuilding EROC and honoring its legacy. Before any executive leadership coaches reach out to me, please note: I’ll reach out as I do my preliminary research. I know what I want and need, and I’m intentional about finding the right fit. Here’s a snippet of what I’m looking for: - A Black Executive Leadership Coach: My career journey has been shaped by having had at least 12 white supervisors, 95% of whom were women-identified. Only one has consistently supported and mentored me, exemplifying true allyship. I seek a Black Executive Leadership Coach who understands the challenges I’ve faced and has successfully navigated similar experiences. Their insights on how they found their strength, will, and motivation will be invaluable as I chart my path forward. - Coaching Style: I need a coach with an authentic, supportive, and direct approach. Someone who isn’t afraid to ask tough questions, respectfully challenge me, and guide me towards an authentic and appropriate direction. - Current Goal: My vision is ambitious: to lead EROC through a $1 Million+ transformation. I need a coach who can help translate my ideas and drafts into a strategic and realistic pathway. I aim to ensure EROC’s sustainability and empower future staff to carry forward its mission with drive and motivation. - Investment: While I deeply desire to invest in myself or have my organization support me, it’s not feasible at this moment. However, this is a need I am committed to fulfilling. QUESTION: I'm curious to learn from YOU, reader, who have had/currently have an executive leadership coach, what you have found to be rewarding in your journey? Thank you for your attention to my post and support as I embark on this exciting chapter. Black men, it's important to develop a pragmatic way of thinking, especially when wanting to create solutions or inspire positive change. Pragmatic thinking involves assessing situations realistically and practically, focusing on tangible results and actionable steps. This approach helps us navigate the complexities of our lives and communities, allowing us to identify real, workable solutions to the challenges we face. By grounding our aspirations in practicality, we can move beyond rhetoric and wishful thinking, making meaningful progress toward our goals. We are the change we are waiting for. By adopting a pragmatic mindset, we can leverage our collective strengths and resources to drive the change we wish to see. This involves not only recognizing the problems but also taking ownership of them and actively working towards solutions. Whether it's mentoring young men, supporting local businesses, or advocating for policy changes, our actions can have a profound impact. When we combine our unique talents and perspectives with a practical approach, we create a powerful force for change that can uplift our entire community. Furthermore, pragmatic thinking allows us to inspire others by leading through example. When we demonstrate that positive change is possible through deliberate, practical actions, we encourage those around us to adopt a similar mindset. This creates a ripple effect, amplifying our impact and fostering a culture of proactive problem-solving and innovation. By embracing pragmatism, we not only transform our own lives but also pave the way for future generations to build on our successes, ensuring that our collective efforts lead to lasting, meaningful progress. ______________ Visit my website: https://richardacross.com Check out my books and journals + more! ______________ POSITIVELY SHAPING THE FUTURE™ #1millionblackmalestudents #collaboration #unity #anthology #mentoring #HBCUsMatter #LeadingWithIntegrity #TheBlackMaleImpact #Blackexcellence #ChallengeCharacterAssasination #BlackMenCollaboration #BlackMen #Impact #leadingchange #CulturalTransformation #HigherEducation #MillionaireMindset #BlackBoys #changethenarrative #EmotionalIntelligence #PositiveImpact #Book2024 #DrRichardACross #PositiveInfluence #BestVersionOfYourself

Black men, it's imperative that we get to a level of consciousness that elevates the culture and not degrades it because it's on us to demonstrate through our actions the value of what elevates us. This journey starts with understanding and embracing our history, heritage, and unique contributions to society. We must actively seek knowledge, engage in meaningful dialogue, and support one another in our pursuits. When we demonstrate through our actions the value of what uplifts us, we set a powerful example for future generations. Our actions should reflect the greatness within us and inspire others to rise above the challenges we face. Let's not be afraid to bet on what we love or stand unapologetically behind what we believe will make a difference and bring us fulfillment. Our power lies in our ability to passionately pursue our dreams and ideals. When we embrace our passions and convictions wholeheartedly, we not only achieve personal satisfaction but also contribute to the greater good. By committing to our beliefs and demonstrating unwavering faith in our abilities, we showcase the strength and resilience inherent in our culture. This collective empowerment fosters a sense of unity and progress, driving us all toward a brighter future. ______________ Visit my website: https://richardacross.com Check out my books and journals + more! ______________ POSITIVELY SHAPING THE FUTURE™ #1millionblackmalestudents #motivation #inspiration #education #mentoring #HBCUsMatter #LeadingWithIntegrity #TheBlackMaleImpact #Blackexcellence #ChallengeCharacterAssasination #PersonalDevelopment #ChosenOne #Psychology #leadingchange #CulturalTransformation #Knowledge #MillionaireMindset #BlackBoys #changethenarrative #EmotionalIntelligence #PositiveImpact #Book2024 #DrRichardACross #PositiveInfluence #BestVersionOfYourself

Black men, building emotional resilience is critical as we navigate our journey because we'll have encounters that will be some of our most challenging moments, yet, we cannot afford to give up when we are here to make a positive impact. Emotional resilience is the backbone that allows us to withstand adversity and bounce back stronger than before. In our journey, we will face numerous obstacles that test our patience, strength and resolve. These challenges can feel overwhelming, whether it's systemic barriers, personal struggles, or societal expectations. However, by cultivating emotional resilience, we develop the ability to process our emotions healthily and constructively. This resilience empowers us to remain focused on our goals, maintain our mental well-being, and keep pushing forward, even when the path seems daunting. It is this inner strength that will enable us to navigate through life's storms and emerge victorious on the other side. Moreover, our emotional resilience not only benefits us individually but also sets a powerful example for our communities. As Black men, we often bear the weight of being role models and leaders within our families and neighborhoods. By demonstrating resilience, we show others that it is possible to overcome hardships and continue striving for greatness. This inspires the younger generation to develop their own resilience, fostering a community of strong, determined individuals. Our perseverance in the face of adversity can ignite a ripple effect of positive change, proving that we are capable of making a significant impact despite the challenges we face. Embracing and nurturing our emotional resilience is not just about personal survival; it's about empowering ourselves and others to create a better future. ______________ Visit my website: https://richardacross.com Check out my books and journals + more! ______________ POSITIVELY SHAPING THE FUTURE™ #1millionblackmalestudents #motivation #inspiration #education #mentoring #HBCUsMatter #LeadingWithIntegrity #TheBlackMaleImpact #Blackexcellence #ChallengeCharacterAssasination #PersonalDevelopment #Mindset #Psychology #leadingchange #CulturalTransformation #Knowledge #MillionaireMindset #BlackBoys #changethenarrative #EmotionalIntelligence #PositiveImpact #Book2024 #DrRichardACross #PositiveInfluence #BestVersionOfYourself

Black men, it's vital that we keep feeding our faith so it remains strong because it's with weak faith that we become more vulnerable to what will take us off the path from doing the work that matters most. Faith acts as our foundation, providing the strength and resilience needed to face life's challenges. When our faith is robust, it grounds us, helping us to stay focused and committed to our goals despite the obstacles we encounter. Without a solid foundation of faith, we become more susceptible to doubt, fear, and distractions that can derail our progress and diminish our impact. Our purpose is too important to lose faith. Moreover, strong faith fuels our determination and perseverance. It keeps us motivated and aligned with our purpose, even when external circumstances are unfavorable. By continuously nurturing our faith through practices such as meditation, prayer, community support, and positive affirmations, we ensure that we remain steadfast in our journey. This unwavering faith empowers us to overcome adversity and stay true to our mission, ultimately enabling us to contribute meaningfully to our communities and achieve our highest potential. ______________ Visit my website: https://richardacross.com Check out my books and journals + more! ______________ POSITIVELY SHAPING THE FUTURE™ #1millionblackmalestudents #motivation #inspiration #education #mentoring #HBCUsMatter #LeadingWithIntegrity #TheBlackMaleImpact #Blackexcellence #ChallengeCharacterAssasination #PersonalDevelopment #ChosenOne #Psychology #leadingchange #CulturalTransformation #Knowledge #MillionaireMindset #BlackBoys #changethenarrative #EmotionalIntelligence #PositiveImpact #Book2024 #DrRichardACross #PositiveInfluence #BestVersionOfYourself

Black men, when we do the work we do to impact positive change with character and integrity, we are not only providing the next generation with the means to make their difference but making them stronger to make their contributions to the world and the value of maintaining their dignity. Our actions serve as a blueprint for them, showcasing the importance of perseverance, ethical behavior, and resilience. By maintaining our dignity and embodying these values, we instill in them the understanding that true success is not just about achieving personal goals but also about uplifting others and making a lasting difference in the world. This legacy of strength and integrity empowers them to navigate their own paths with confidence and purpose, knowing they have a strong example to follow. Moreover, our commitment to positive change reinforces the value of community and collective progress. When we prioritize character and integrity, we foster environments where mutual respect and support thrive. This, in turn, makes the next generation stronger, more united, and better equipped to face the challenges ahead. They learn that maintaining their dignity is crucial in overcoming obstacles and achieving meaningful progress. Our example helps them see that their contributions matter and that they, too, have the power to create positive change and leave a lasting impact on the world. Through our dedication, we are not just building a better future for ourselves but for all who come after us. ______________ Visit my website: https://richardacross.com Check out my books and journals + more! ______________ POSITIVELY SHAPING THE FUTURE™ #1millionblackmalestudents #motivation #inspiration #education #mentoring #HBCUsMatter #LeadingWithIntegrity #TheBlackMaleImpact #Blackexcellence #ChallengeCharacterAssasination #PersonalDevelopment #Mindset #Psychology #leadingchange #CulturalTransformation #Knowledge #MillionaireMindset #BlackBoys #changethenarrative #EmotionalIntelligence #PositiveImpact #Book2024 #DrRichardACross #PositiveInfluence

Black men, despite the challenges and restrictions historically placed upon us, it's vital to take the lead in shaping our futures and the futures of those around us. Leadership offers us the power to transcend the social construct limitations and redefine our narratives. By stepping into leadership roles, we not only challenge the stereotypes and misconceptions that have been imposed on us but also inspire others to envision and strive for a better future. Leading allows us to create spaces where we can thrive, advocate for our communities, and empower the next generation to break free from the systemic barriers that will only continue to prevent the valuable contribution possible for collective progress and growth. Besides, taking the lead means embracing our strengths, experiences, and unique perspectives, and using them to influence positive change. As Black men, we possess a wealth of knowledge and resilience gained from navigating these challenges, which can be leveraged to inspire others and drive meaningful progress. By the way, leadership isn't just about personal success; it's about lifting others as we climb, building a legacy of empowerment and resilience. By taking the lead, we model for younger generations the importance of self-belief, perseverance, and the courage to defy limitations. We show them that despite the obstacles we face, we have the agency and ability to make a profound impact in our communities and the world. ______________ Visit my website: https://richardacross.com Check out my books and journals + more! ______________ POSITIVELY SHAPING THE FUTURE™ #1millionblackmalestudents #motivation #inspiration #education #mentoring #HBCUsMatter #LeadingWithIntegrity #TheBlackMaleImpact #Blackexcellence #ChallengeCharacterAssasination #PersonalDevelopment #Mindset #Psychology #leadingchange #CulturalTransformation #Knowledge #MillionaireMindset #BlackBoys #changethenarrative #EmotionalIntelligence #PositiveImpact #Book2024 #DrRichardACross #PositiveInfluence #BestVersionOfYourself

In the wake of Vice President Kamala Harris's ascension as the presumptive nominee for the Democratic Party, the Howard University Initiative on Public Opinion conducted a poll on the opinions of Black voters July 22-24 in relation to Harris's candidacy. The report includes results from more than 2000 respondents from more than 30 states, weighted by gender and education level. Results suggest that Harris is best known for her advocacy for reproductive rights, that her best path to victory is to select a white male running mate, and that respondents view her as a politically moderate Democrat. The poll results also show that 93% of those polled plan to vote for VP Kamala Harris. https://lnkd.in/e_S57qf7

Black men, our journey is more than just a personal endeavor; it is a powerful movement that reshapes narratives and builds a culture of progress and empowerment. When we strive for personal growth and success, we uplift our communities and challenge long-standing stereotypes. Our achievements serve as beacons of hope and possibility for the younger generations, illustrating that greatness is attainable despite societal obstacles. By excelling in various fields and showcasing our talents and resilience, we contribute to a collective story that redefines what it means to be a Black man in today's world. Moreover, this journey of empowerment involves actively participating in and supporting initiatives that foster education, economic growth, and social justice within our communities. By mentoring young men, advocating for policies that promote equality, and creating opportunities for advancement, we pave the way for future generations to thrive. Our movement is a testament to our unity and strength, proving that when we come together, we can overcome any barrier. As we continue to push boundaries and expand horizons, we create a legacy of excellence that not only honors those who came before us but also inspires those who will follow in our footsteps. ______________ Visit my website: https://richardacross.com Check out my books and journals + more! ______________ POSITIVELY SHAPING THE FUTURE™ #1millionblackmalestudents #collaboration #unity #anthology #mentoring #HBCUsMatter #LeadingWithIntegrity #TheBlackMaleImpact #Blackexcellence #ChallengeCharacterAssasination #BlackMenCollaboration #BlackMen #Impact #leadingchange #CulturalTransformation #HigherEducation #MillionaireMindset #BlackBoys #changethenarrative #EmotionalIntelligence #PositiveImpact #Book2024 #DrRichardACross #PositiveInfluence #LiterallyAgent #BestVersionOfYourself

When mastering professional etiquette, there should ALWAYS be considerations given to verbal and non-verbal communications. I had the pleasure of facilitating a very energetic conversation about this topic with college students from several different colleges during UNCF's Leadership Conference this year. One thing we as black people hear alot - yall always look angry. Most often times we are not aware of our facial expressions and how others could perceive it. I mean honestly, who cares what other people think right? Wrong... We absolutely should care when the situation does not warrant such expression - especially in professional settings. Read that again. Being approachable is key to success. It is apart of being professional especially in leadership roles. Check out their reaction as I share my experience with being corrected by my husband on several occassions. You had to be there to catch the full vibe though!! I love this environment and I'm looking forward to speaking with many more college kids! What professional etiquette tips would you give to the up and coming leaders?? ~Alisha B. Black men, we must cultivate the strength to think independently, particularly when our actions deviate from the norm but are crucial for collective progress. Embracing independent thought requires character and inner strength, as it often means standing alone against a tide of conventional thinking. When we choose to think and act differently, we challenge established narratives and create new possibilities. This path demands resilience and the courage to prioritize the greater good over the comfort of fitting in. By thinking differently, we not only empower ourselves but also pave the way for others to break free from limiting beliefs and behaviors. The journey to change the narrative and be different is not without its challenges. When we decide to do what is best for our collective progress, not everyone will understand or support our vision. This lack of support can tempt us to revert to familiar, comfortable patterns. However, true progress requires us to stay the course and resist the urge to conform. By valuing our unique perspectives and strengths, we can drive meaningful change. Our ability to think independently and act with purpose can inspire others to do the same, ultimately transforming our communities and fostering a culture of innovation and growth. ______________ Visit my website: https://richardacross.com Check out my books and journals + more! ______________ POSITIVELY SHAPING THE FUTURE™ #1millionblackmalestudents #motivation #inspiration #education #mentoring #HBCUsMatter #LeadingWithIntegrity #TheBlackMaleImpact #Blackexcellence #ChallengeCharacterAssasination #PersonalDevelopment #Mindset #Psychology #leadingchange #CulturalTransformation #Knowledge #MillionaireMindset #BlackBoys #changethenarrative #EmotionalIntelligence #PositiveImpact #Book2024 #DrRichardACross #PositiveInfluence #BestVersionOfYourself

How to Create Opportunities for Black Women Entrepreneurs to Thrive Black women entrepreneurs are the backbone of our economy, and it’s time we give them the recognition and support they deserve. As someone deeply involved in business and leadership development, I’ve seen firsthand the resilience, innovation, and drive that Black women bring to the entrepreneurial space. Despite facing systemic barriers and a lack of access to traditional funding sources, these women are starting businesses at a faster rate than any other demographic group. The future of entrepreneurship lies in the hands of Black women, but to unlock their full potential, we must create equitable opportunities and resources tailored to their unique challenges. This means investing in their ventures, providing mentorship, and amplifying their voices. Here’s how you can make a difference: • Invest: Allocate funds specifically for Black women-led startups and businesses. • Mentor: Offer your time and expertise to guide and support emerging Black women entrepreneurs. • Amplify: Use your platform to highlight their achievements and share their stories. If we truly want to drive innovation and economic growth, we must prioritize the empowerment of Black women entrepreneurs. What steps will you take today to support and uplift Black women in business? #Entrepreneurship #BlackWomenLead #SupportBlackBusiness #Leadership #blackwomanceo

Black men, we must embrace that the call is loud to lead and mentor the next generation, and it's a pressing need; the impact is immeasurable, and we must not be selective in doing good because what we do is forming the blueprint for what the next generation will follow. The urgency to step up and guide those who follow us can not be overstated. Our influence and actions today will shape the future of our communities. By being proactive in our mentorship and leadership roles, we lay a strong foundation for the next generation to build upon. It's essential to understand that the impact of our efforts is immeasurable; every lesson taught, every example set, and every encouragement given contributes to the development of young minds who will carry our legacy forward. Moreover, we must not be selective in doing good. Our actions should be consistent and inclusive, reflecting the values we want to instill in the next generation. When we act with integrity, kindness, and determination, we create a blueprint that demonstrates the power of positive influence. The next generation looks up to us for guidance and inspiration. By leading by example and embracing our roles as mentors, we ensure that the blueprint we create is one that fosters resilience, ambition, and a commitment to excellence. In doing so, we pave the way for a brighter and more empowered future for all. ______________ Visit my website: https://richardacross.com Check out my books and journals + more! ______________ POSITIVELY SHAPING THE FUTURE™ #1millionblackmalestudents #motivation #inspiration #education #mentoring #HBCUsMatter #LeadingWithIntegrity #TheBlackMaleImpact #Blackexcellence #ChallengeCharacterAssasination #PersonalDevelopment #Mindset #Psychology #leadingchange #CulturalTransformation #Knowledge #MillionaireMindset #BlackBoys #changethenarrative #EmotionalIntelligence #PositiveImpact #Book2024 #DrRichardACross #PositiveInfluence #BestVersionOfYourself

Follow-up to the Lumina Foundation report on their HBCU adult learner initiative: One of the most interesting insights I gained from supporting Johnson C. Smith University (JCSU) last year is that many of their adult learners desire a "full college experience." They want to feel as valued as traditional students and integrated into the campus community. This is a different sentiment from research I've conducted at PWIs, where adult learners often want to get in and get out without much fuss. One key action step that arose: Design an adult learner "Signature Student Experience" that starts from application and extends to alumhood. For HBCUs, which are deeply rooted in tradition, incorporating elements of the student experience such as Greek life, band, choir, and other traditions can significantly enhance the adult learner experience and provide them with the enriching college journey they seek - and frankly, pay for.

Black men, it's through communication that we learn the things that don't serve us, and through the same medium, we can recondition our mindset and perspectives about who we are and what we are capable of. Open and honest communication allows us to identify and dismantle the negative narratives and limiting beliefs that have been imposed on us. By sharing our experiences and listening to others, we can collectively recognize the patterns and behaviors that hinder our progress and well-being. This awareness is the first step towards change, as it enables us to choose what to accept and what to discard consciously. Reconditioning our mindset is a powerful process that can redefine our self-image and potential. When we engage in positive, affirming conversations, we reinforce our strengths and capabilities. We can remind each other that resilience, intelligence, and greatness are embedded in our DNA. This shift in perspective is not just about individual growth but also about collective empowerment. As we change the way we think and talk about ourselves, we create a new narrative that supports our thriving. This renewed mindset enables us to overcome obstacles, break barriers, and achieve the success that is inherently within our reach. Communication, therefore, becomes a tool for liberation and a catalyst for unlocking our true potential. ______________ Visit my website: https://richardacross.com Check out my books and journals + more! ______________ POSITIVELY SHAPING THE FUTURE™ #1millionblackmalestudents #motivation #inspiration #education #mentoring #HBCUsMatter #LeadingWithIntegrity #TheBlackMaleImpact #Blackexcellence #ChallengeCharacterAssasination #PersonalDevelopment #Mindset #Psychology #leadingchange #CulturalTransformation #Knowledge #MillionaireMindset #BlackBoys #changethenarrative #EmotionalIntelligence #PositiveImpact #Book2024 #DrRichardACross #PositiveInfluence #BestVersionOfYourself

The onus was on me at my church's youth department week celebration to speak and I spoke about the youth and their civic engagement.I took examples from the life of reputable men and women in the bible who due to their civic engagement brought lasting change to their community.I admonished the church to consider their civic engagement.Examples were taken from the life of Deborah,Esther, David, Jeremiah and Daniel.I encouraged us all to discover our passion, purpose and potential to make us more viable because we would need money for any endeavor even as little as a bottle of oil.Scripture verses were Jeremiah 1:4-10, Daniel 6:3, Romans 13:1-6, Luke 10: 25-37.Gen 1:27-28(I used this verse to speak about the youth and governance). What is meant by civic engagement? Well I got these few. Civic engagement or civic participation is any individual or group activities addressing issues of public concern. Civic engagement includes communities working together or individuals alone both political and non political actions to protect public values or make a change in the community. It involves ways citizens participate In the life of the community to improve the conditions of others. Examples of Civic engagement are political engagement, community engagement, civic skills engagement and social justice engagement. The pleasure is always mine to impact. Black men, let's not get comfortable being the only one in the spaces where we are saying we're the only one, especially when we know others who are more than capable of being there and have demonstrated the level of excellence to be there. It’s essential that we actively seek out and uplift our peers who have the talent and drive to succeed. By doing so, we create a community of support and encouragement that enables us to thrive collectively. When we open doors for others, we not only enhance our representation but also strengthen our presence and influence in those spaces. Besides, we must play our part in closing the gaps in spaces where we can be and would excel in. This means advocating for inclusion, providing mentorship, and creating opportunities for those who follow. It’s not enough to simply reach the top; we must also extend a hand to those climbing behind us. By doing this, we build a legacy of excellence and empowerment, ensuring that future generations of Black men have the support and resources they need to succeed. This collective effort not only benefits individuals but also enriches the broader community, fostering an environment where excellence and diversity are the norms. ______________ Visit my website: https://richardacross.com Check out my books and journals + more! ______________ POSITIVELY SHAPING THE FUTURE™ #1millionblackmalestudents #motivation #inspiration #education #mentoring #HBCUsMatter #LeadingWithIntegrity #TheBlackMaleImpact #Blackexcellence #ChallengeCharacterAssasination #PersonalDevelopment #Mindset #Psychology #leadingchange #CulturalTransformation #Knowledge #MillionaireMindset #BlackBoys #changethenarrative #EmotionalIntelligence #PositiveImpact #Book2024 #DrRichardACross #PositiveInfluence #BestVersionOfYourself

Black men, it's important that we prioritize the authenticity and integrity of our character and believe that we can add value without compromising our values. When we prioritize authenticity and integrity, we create a strong foundation for our community. By staying true to who we are and what we stand for, we not only build trust and respect among ourselves but also set a powerful example for others to follow. Our authenticity allows us to engage in meaningful relationships and build connections based on mutual respect and understanding. In a world that often pressures us to conform, maintaining our integrity ensures that we are not swayed by external influences and that our actions reflect our true beliefs and values. This commitment to authenticity and integrity strengthens our collective identity and empowers us to navigate challenges with confidence and resilience. Additionally, we must work together to uplift and support one another rather than participate in the suppression of each other’s success. By celebrating each other's achievements and providing support, we build a network of solidarity that benefits us all. Collaboration and mutual encouragement are key to overcoming obstacles and creating a thriving community where every member has the opportunity to succeed. The legacy we build today through our commitment to integrity and support will pave the way for future generations, ensuring they inherit a community that values empowerment and progress. By focusing on our shared goals and supporting one another, we lay the groundwork for a future where our collective success serves as a testament to the strength and resilience of our community. ______________ Visit my website: https://richardacross.com Check out my books and journals + more! ______________ POSITIVELY SHAPING THE FUTURE™ #1millionblackmalestudents #motivation #inspiration #education #mentoring #HBCUsMatter #LeadingWithIntegrity #TheBlackMaleImpact #Blackexcellence #ChallengeCharacterAssasination #PersonalDevelopment #Mindset #Psychology #leadingchange #CulturalTransformation #Knowledge #MillionaireMindset #BlackBoys #changethenarrative #EmotionalIntelligence #PositiveImpact #Book2024 #DrRichardACross #PositiveInfluence #BestVersionOfYourself
