    Big Brothers Big Sisters of America


    This National award honors an agency leader or Board member who is a visionary leader and is dedicated to all aspects of the BBBS mission. The Irvin F. Westheimer Award for Visionary Leadership is established in recognition of Irv Westheimer, who had a vision in 1903 for the founding of the Big Brothers Big Sisters Movement, which was later incorporated in 1904 by Ernest Coulter.

He chairs The Children’s Movement of Florida, aimed at making children the state’s top priority for investment. He has served on the Governor’s Children and Youth Cabinet and twice chaired the Florida Partnership for School Readiness. In 2002 and 2008 he led successful campaigns for The Children’s Trust, a dedicated source of early intervention and prevention funding for children in Miami-Dade.
