Alicia Bond, Vigilant Ops CRO, was recently interviewed by Deb Radcliff on what should be in SBOMs and how to determine if the data included in them is complete and current enough for development teams and their software product buyers. “At the end of the day, it’s the data in the SBOM that matters. That means knowing the version, the producer, component name, version, unique identifiers, dependency information, the author of the SBOM, as well as timestamps to authenticate where it came from,” she notes. “Imagine you already have all of this in your SBOMs—kept up to date in one place. So, in the next log4j scenario, at the click of a button you know what products it is tied to. At the PSC Annual Conference, I attended an interesting discussion moderated by Jeff Shen, with the expert panel including Conrad Stosz, Director of AI at OMB, and Kara Sacilotto from Wiley. The talk was called "Keeping It Real: Using Artificial Intelligence in Government Contracting." AI is now being used : - By the Govt. in generating solicitations - By the Govt. in supporting the evaluation of RFP responses - By companies in supporting the writing of RFP responses   The panel discussed how Federal agencies are increasingly interested in harnessing generative artificial intelligence (GAI) in a responsible and strategic manner. The panel discussed use cases and best practices related to how GAI is being used to increase efficiency, whether on the agency side or within companies. They talked about the ethical and legal implications, and disclosure requirements. Very informative, and lots of things to consider over the next year or two as the technology continues to evolve.
