Do you do business in one of the “Tricky States” for HR? We’re talking about our beloved “tricky states” - California, New York and New Jersey! So, why exactly are they tricky? These states are considered employee friendly, which we love because employees are integral to the success of a business. However, this means there is more legislation that governs the employer-employee relationship, making it much more difficult for employers to navigate the additional compliance. For example, paying and tracking breaks for hourly employees in California may be particularly difficult and employers often owe fines, fees, and back wages due to “not doing it right”. Those penalties add up quickly! Chances are if you have hourly employees in CA you already owe penalty premiums. In every audit we’ve done, no one is doing it 100% correctly. Lucky you - these states are our specialty! We’re well versed in the more complicated compliance laws in these states. Please join us in celebrating Jewish American Heritage Month all month long. Embrace inclusivity at your office by honoring your Jewish American employees and educating your staff on the importance of Jewish culture. Cater a meal for your staff from a Jewish-owned restaurant. During the lunch foster conversation with ice breakers, presentations, games, and more. Send out weekly emails highlighting important contributions of Jewish Americans. Highlight their culture with historical and cultural facts. Feature books and movies to help your staff learn more about Jewish American heritage.
