This week on the Futures Edge Show, James Iuorio and Bob Iaccino spoke with Jeffrey Tucker, founder and president of the Brownstone Insitute, who explored the topic of inflation and its impact on the economy. Tucker raised questions about the accuracy of inflation data and discusses various factors not included in the Consumer Price Index (CPI), such as interest charges, housing costs, fees, and taxes. They discuss the flaws in the CPI and PCE measurements, the effects of shrinkflation on consumer goods, and the implications for businesses and the economy. He argues that the actual decline in purchasing power of the dollar over the past four years may be much higher than the reported 23%. Tucker also highlights the effect of inflation on GDP and suggests that the current economic situation may be more akin to a Great Depression than a recovery. But the bond market has been wrong before and could be again, with some investors betting that inflation pressures will ease notably over the summer months.

The Top Five Questions Inheritors Would Like to Ask Their Families With over $80 trillion expected to be passed down in the Great Wealth Transfer, inheritors have a lot of questions. Bank of America's Merrill Center for Family Wealth surveyed 1,000 members of the “rising generation” about their most common questions and concerns. Here are their top five: 1. How can I determine what my family expects of me, and what I can expect (without seeming entitled)? According to the study, young family members who have been given assets “are often reluctant to make use of those funds — uncertain about their family’s desires and the intended purpose of the gift.” Merrill says clear communication about the family’s values and expectations can free the inheritor to start a business or change careers, fund important goals and support causes they care about. 2. How can I maintain healthy sibling relationships when working together on “shared family ventures”?  Sibling rivalries are common in all families — and wealth can only amplify them. Merrill recommends holding regular family meetings with “open, honest dialogue” and having wealth creators share “necessary information with the emerging generation.” 3. How can I build my own personal identity both within and outside the family wealth? Wealth can be a blessing or a curse to a young inheritor and make it hard to find their own place in the world. Merrill says families should “broaden their definition of wealth – to value each member’s contribution of human, relationship and spiritual capital and how they enhance the whole.” Inheritors should take time to explore their own passions and purpose and see how they can align with the family’s. 4. How can I navigate uncomfortable money dynamics and questions from friends and romantic partners? One way to be open yet protected with friends and partners is to create a “quick elevator speech grounded in personal values to help define your relationship with wealth confidently and authentically.” They can also just steer the conversation away from money topics and specific amounts and by asking, “What exactly are you curious to know?”  5. How can I acquire the skills necessary to manage wealth responsibly? When it comes to managing wealth, inheritors need to clearly identify gaps in their learning, set realistic goals and use all the family’s educational resources. Aside from learning about investing and wealth management, inheritors need to be educated on “governance, philanthropy and the complexities of a family business.” What questions do you think inheritors should be asking their families? Florida state attorney general asked to investigate illegal short selling (counterfeit shares) @DevinNunes calling out "Citadel, Citadel Securities, VIRTU Americas, G1 Execution Services, and Jane Street Capital" again. Along with "prime brokers, clearing brokers, executing brokers, options market makers, hedge funds, custodian banks, and other fiduciaries" "Furthermore, data made available to us indicate that just four market participants have been responsible for over 60% of the extraordinary volume of DJT shares traded: Citadel Securities, VIRTU Americas, G1 Execution Services, and Jane Street Capital. While DJT has consistently been among the most expensive stocks to borrow legally, TMTG assesses that some sellers have been paying a drastically reduced rate to obtain so-called “locates” for seemingly illegitimate “naked” short sales. The anomalies surrounding the trading of DJT suggest the possibility of unlawful collusion among multiple market counterparties including, without limitation: prime brokers, clearing brokers, executing brokers, options market makers, hedge funds, custodian banks, and other fiduciaries. Since 2017, US equity mutual funds had only one (!) months of net inflows, and 87 months of outflows. Where does the money go? #ETF (Exchange Traded Funds), of course. Why? Because much lower fees. No "up-front sales charge" and much lower annual fees. Also, 90-99% of mutual funds underperform their benchmarks over time. Understandably, investors don't like to pay big bucks for mediocre performance. So where is the problem? -> As the share of passively managed investment grows (currently around 50%), their ownership of individual companies grows and grows. Some companies, like $CENT Central Garden and Pet Co., are already 60% owned by passive vehicles. Those funds do not care about the fundamentals of the company. It could go bankrupt, and, as long as it remains in the index the fund tracks, the fund would not sell! -> Passive investing is insensitive to price. It's always fully invested. If fresh money comes in, the fund buys no matter what. If money leaves, vice-versa. -> As more and more investors become price insensitive, you will see more "crazy" price movements that are incomprehensible to 'rational' investors (like $SMCI Super Micro Computer). -> This could lead inexperienced investors to bet a lot of money on 'momentum' stocks (or call options), "because fundamentals don't matter". With predictable outcome. => If everyone acts rational (going into passive, low-fee ETF), the outcome doesn't have to be rational, too.

Is Jefferies' concerned that regulators will actually start demanding trade settlement under T +1? If they are the prime broker for Lind Partners they might want to check on Lind Partners' investment in FingerMotion, Inc. 100's of millions of counterfeit shares would create a big mess for them. Just like it did for Credit Suisse. But those details are locked away for 50 years. "Jefferies Financial Group Inc.’s roughly $3 billion of debt sales last month were partly used to prepare for potential glitches when revamped trading rules take effect next week. A portion of the borrowing will help the investment bank build a cushion to deal with any unexpected problems with the rollout of expedited stock trading, which begins Tuesday... ...US markets are bracing for the implementation of new rules that will require trades to settle — that is, complete the exchange of payments for stock — in one day instead of the two days that has been the norm. That has spurred a bout of internal reviews as banks, brokers and investors assess their ability to handle the change and guarantee their readiness. Industry participants are bracing for potential failed trades and technology glitches.
