What are some ways to show expertise in contract negotiation?
Before drafting or negotiating an agreement for services on a television series or motion picture, you must first ascertain the type of project and the production budget. Simply put, you cannot efficiently or effectively draft or negotiate an entertainment agreement in a vacuum. WHY? The deal terms depend on the context of the film and its budget. For example, what constitutes an appropriate actor fee on a film with a budget of $75,000 may be nonsensical in the context of a $100m production (and vice versa). The budget and size of production are relevant to several contract issues, not to mention the length and complexity of the contracts used for the production.
