Cold calling in August in the heat in a smokey Chico sucks... and that's why I am doing it. Other reps aren't willing to. It's hot. People are on vacation. People are worried about the fire. It is these moments that I will remember when I am telling reps ten years ago about my journey. The long days of not talking to a dm. Having to change shirts in the middle of the day because I sweat through the first one. Losing deals just to win one later in the week. These are the moments that will stand out. I remember so little about the deals that were inbound leads and I can tell you almost every detail about the deals that were the hardest to get.

Prospecting is the first hurdle of the race for any sales person… We constantly hear about new services and software that will magically remove the need to do any of your own cold calling. My question lately is why do we not focus on getting back to basics by using tried and true methods? More specifically, why is in-person door knocking not everyone’s go-to method? A physical leave behind, a business card, the confidence to walk into someone’s place of business, and a hustlers mindset is all you need to drive your own success. With that being said… let’s have a conversation about your current copier tech situation and discuss how Kyocera does things a little different that the rest of the industry!

Let's talk about cold calling 📞☎️🤳. It's essential to be polite when making a call. Even if you've taken the time to research the person you're calling, you still need to introduce yourself and let them know this is a cold call—they aren't expecting it. Connecting with people is crucial. That's why you don't see many people making calls these days; they focus on emails and rely on them to book meetings. Some people think that connecting with a CEO on LinkedIn makes them a salesperson. That's not how it works at all. Can you maintain a conversation with a CEO? Can you engage them with what you're saying? Cold calling will always be necessary. As always, we've got this! 🚀

I just finished Q3 with a 230% average quota attainment. So companies are making sales reps go through 3 or more 60-90 minute interviews that include: - mock discovery - mock demos - mock objection handling - additional roleplaying - and for the AE to provide 60-90 plan And when they decide they’re not a fit They send an email saying thanks for your time but we went in another direction. I'm on board with going through a thorough interview process. But if you've invested this much time into evaluating someone and having them spend so much time prepping, at least tell them why you went in another direction. #hiring #interview

Landing a new sales role is no different than closing a deal with a new prospect. Here’s what I mean… In a consultative sales role, where deals can take 3-6 months, top performers in some roles will close 7-10 deals a year. It’s less than that at some orgs. Those top reps have a prospect list of maybe 100-150 accounts. So they’re closing less than 10% of those on a GREAT year. Getting a new job is going to look the same… You should have a “prospect list” of companies you want to work for. It should be tiered the same as a real prospect list, based on things that are important to YOU. And you should have an outbound prospecting strategy… Reaching out to: 🔸Recruiters 🔸 Hiring Managers 🔸Reps that are in the role you’re targeting Multithreaded approach, just like your sales processes. And if your expectations are in line, you know not all of those recruiters, hiring managers, AE’s, etc, are going to respond to your outreach. But SOME of them will. Close those opportunities and land the new gig. Treat your job search like the sales cycles you’ve proven to be good at. Have the right expectations when it comes to real opportunities. I think we as salespeople get too hung up on what the customer wants or asks for. Like sure if you have exactly what they want, then you should just offer them that. But a lot of our job is also playing the role of advisor. Example, customer insists on having a unit in overhaul condition. Example conversation: Customer: "I need this unit in OH condition." Me: "Ok, well we have a unit in SV (repaired condition). I know you're looking for OH, but SV is about the half the price and the work scope is not that different from OH." What's the worst they can say? No? The same can be applied for: "I need x tag" "I need to pay x price" "I need unit in x number of days" You never know they might not be able to find exactly what they want. You miss 100% of the shots you don't take and if you no quote or don't even respond because you don't have what they want, you miss opportunities. And sure you might only close maybe 5% of those, but that could make the difference between you hitting your numbers and not hitting them. 🤷‍♂️ Just quote. All I'm sayin.
