Movement can be loaded or unloaded and performed across various velocity, distance, and time domains with specific volume parameters and work:rest ratios to stimulate adaptations in strength and/or conditioning. Out of all the components essential for player development, the technical foundation stands out as the most crucial element. It is the player's unique currency that cannot be bought by others. My insights are derived from hands-on work with thousands of players, not armchair conclusions. In today's coaching landscape, there is a shift towards a more laboratory-oriented approach where observation marks the beginning of a scientific journey. Having observed thousands of young players and grasping their progression from grassroots to national teams holds paramount importance. Distinguishing between players who can effortlessly execute technical skills in an implicit manner and those who need to consciously recall actions is fundamental. This disparity often leads to varying coaching methods, with some coaches hesitant towards unopposed, isolated practice. Understanding this distinction is key in optimizing player development strategies.

File this under "Failing Fast". Golf is said to be "a game of misses." In product management, we fail more than we succeed—it's just the nature of learning. And we want to learn fast and cheap. In golf, everything is hyper-accelerated. We are best served doing retrospectives in seconds or minutes, instead of hours or days or weeks. Decide what we've learned, what to practice in the future for similar situations, assess our current situation, and then crack on fresh. Leave the emotion and ego behind. It is easier to say than do in either the golf or product management context. Thus, the "always better, never best" mindset. The "fairway bunker" miss is often dreaded in golf. For soooo many reasons, most of which relate to "lost opportunity". I almost look forward to them. Almost. 😅 It doesn't always work out... and yet leaning into it as an opportunity versus a curse is no doubt an optimal mindset. Just like #fails in product development! 😎

Another coordinative warm-up activation idea for players in the central corridor zones. Each cone has corresponding color with a player. For example, red cone has one player with the ball and one without the ball. Player in the middle is constrained to specific are where he has two touches to control and pass the ball. 1. Coach calls out for example "red" and the player in the middle receives the ball from the player in the red cone. After receiving, the player in the middle should have scanned to find where the other red cone is with corresponding player and 1. pass the ball to him/her. 2. Coach calls another color and the action repeats. Progression: Make the control zone smaller in order to to challenge first touch (imitate play situation as the central zone is crowded and decision-making must be quick). To keep the players around the circle active and engaged, different control variations can be introduced (tictocs, toetaps, croqueta and etc).

This is a partnership that I’m especially proud of and excited about, more so than if it was with a behemoth club like a Los Angeles Lakers (I would take that too, let's be honest). My point is, there are so many leagues like the United Soccer League (USL) that sit under the 'Big 5' US leagues (NBA, MLS, NFL, NHL, MLB) that are crying out for a suitable athlete management system (AMS), and I feel like we're really starting to dial in this niche 'smaller budget pro team' market. A few characteristics that make this type of league a good fit for Lumin Sports that I've noticed: 💰 Smaller budgets than the NBA, NFL, MLS, MLB 👥 Still have multiple performance departments that need alignment 🔻 Lower resources, can't afford to dedicate staff to run a complex AMS 📊 Still have a decent amount of sports tech they need data centralised for ⌛ Time-poor, the need to consolidate all apps and systems into one app. It's going to be a solid season, let's go Andy Costin! #USL #USSoccer #athletemanagementsystem #sportstechnology #athleteperformance
