I recently watched an insightful video from Chirantan "CJ" Desai, President and COO of ServiceNow, where he spoke at Sequoia Capital's AI Ascent conference. Here are a few learnings that can be applied by companies selling products at the bleeding edge of technology: 🎯 Keep your GTM laser-focused on the buyer 🎯 Before creating any product, they make sure they have answers to these questions. - Who is the buyer? - Do we have access to this buyer? Is he next door or 2 doors down or 5 doors down? - Will current buyer introduce us to this new buyer? 🤝 Outcome-based selling > AI-based selling 🤝 The ServiceNow team focuses on deeply understanding specific use cases of their buyers and how AI can accelerate these use cases. This allows them to confidently approach industry leaders and demonstrate how ServiceNow can accelerate their goals. If you're not doing outcome-based selling, you're just another guy coming in and giving an AI pitch. *** Definitely worth blocking 30 mins this weekend and giving it a full listen. Freshworks makes major moves amidst CEO transition. The $230M acquisition of IT asset management company Device42 signals a potential shift towards backend IT solutions. With the founder Girish Mathrubootham stepping into an executive chairman role, new CEO Dennis Woodside faces the challenge of steering Freshworks amidst a 30% stock drop on the acquisition news. “High-performing employees report a 16% lower intent to stay in the face of on-site work requirements.” That little gem and work-life balance aside, having worked remote for 11 years I work harder, longer and deeper than I ever did when I was office based. That didn’t happen automatically. It required focusing on how to get working from home to work for me and requires regular reevaluation. Gartner’s R&A force is remote and global. Given the talent needs we have I can’t imagine being able to change that. Enabling effective, remote work is table stakes for us and has been for almost 20 years.
