    * Member of the Apache Software Foundation. Members are a small group of peer-elected leaders who are also legal shareholders in the Foundation, and are responsible for its overall development, growth, and management. * Committer and project management committee (PMC) member on the Apache Tomcat project. The leading servlet container, Tomcat is used by numerous Fortune 1000 companies for mission-critical web application as well as internal research and development. I have been a contributor to the Tomcat project since 2001. * Committer for the Log4j toolkit and a member of the Logging Services PMC. * I was involved (committing code, reviewing, helping) with numerous Java libraries and other projects under the Jakarta umbrella, and I am also a member of that Jakarta PMC. * Provided guidance on public relations issues of interest to the Foundation as a member of its Public Relations Committee. * Mentored new projects into the Apache Software Foundation via the Incubator mechanism, and I serve on the Incubator's Project Management Committee. * Among the projects I helped in the Incubator: ** Apache Solr: an enterprise search server on top of Lucene, with XML, HTTP, and JSON APIs. ** Apache Lokahi: a modular, web-based framework for the management of application servers. ** Apache OFBiz: open-source enterprise automation. ** Apache Qpid: multiple language implementations of the Advanced Messaged Queuing Protocol (AMQP). ** Apache Abdera: a functionally-complete, high-performance implementation of the IETF Atom Syndication Format and Atom Publishing Protocol (AtomPub) specifications. * won the inaugural Apache / Covalent Open Source Leaders of Tomorrow award in 2005. * Mentored multiple student participants working on Apache projects in the Google Summer of Code initiative. * My Apache activities are done as an independent volunteer, not sponsored by any company, but always with the consent of my full-time employer.
