Accounting Assistant

CLAS Information Services is seeking an individual who is self-motivated and detail-oriented to join our accounting team. This is a great opportunity for someone looking to start a career in accounting while also gaining experience in public records management. This position will be responsible for assisting in Accounts Receivable along with other tasks within the accounting realm. The Accounting Assistant will have direct contact with senior business partners and customers, which requires strong interpersonal communication skills both written and verbal. In addition, this role will back up our current ‘runner’ which is an employee who drives to the Secretary of State to drop off documents on behalf of our clients.

  • Assist in day-to-day Accounts Receivable operations
  • Field client calls and emails providing information and invoice copies as requested
  • Coordinate with various internal departments to resolve customer issues affecting payment of invoices
  • Research and resolve invoice discrepancies
  • Assist in the collections process
  • Process customer credit card / ACH / Wire payments / Checks
  • Compile and scan payments to bank deposit accounts
  • Processing of special statements for select clients
  • Compile and organize New Account Forms
  • Manage our client’s E-billing accounts
  • Field customer requests for invoices, W-9, Payment Options, etc.
  • Data entry
  • Assist Accounting team as needed
  • Backup to the current runner by driving to the Secretary of State to drop off documents when our main runner is unavailable
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Nice to have – 1+ years of accounting / bookkeeping experience
  • Experience with MS Excel and Outlook
  • Attention to detail and accuracy
  • Experience with accounting software program Dynamics a plus
  • Clean driving record
  • Strong interpersonal skills and willingness to interact with other business units to solve problems and develop strong relationships with both internal and external clients
  • Positive, can-do attitude
  • Exceptional organizational skills and ability to manage multiple client requests simultaneously
