Job Description

The Accounting Coordinator is an integral member of the Controllers Department. This position maintains daily cash reporting, processes deposits for the University and prepares comparative cash analysis. The Accounting Coordinator prepares monthly schedules, journal entries and account reconciliations. Additionally, this position provides operational support to the department, including filing, petty cash and other duties as assigned.

Primary Responsibilities

  • General accounting functions; daily deposits, cash analysis reporting
  • Prepares monthly account reconciliations; prepares detailed monthly reconciliation of student financial services cash, ACH and credit card payments. Processes assigned journal entries.
  • Provides support for annual audits; maintains monthly journal entry files.
  • Works with the colleagues to share responsibility for operational aspects of the office. Provide backup for areas as needed. Maintains petty cash.
  • Adheres to policies as part of the Controllers group. Communicates identified deficiencies in standard operating procedures and recommends improved processes for implementation.

Required Experience

  • At least one year of Administrative or transactional accounting experience, preferable in a higher education environment.
  • Tech savvy with strong knowledge of Microsoft Office products.
  • Ability to build relationships and establish collaborative partnerships across the University and in an environment with dynamic and ever-changing priorities.
