Team: Learning & Outreach
Status/Employment: Contractor

Compensation: $5,100 total for the 15-week program.
The Taft Museum of Art (TMA) provides meaningful experiences by connecting people with great art, both in a historic setting and in the community. Through its intimate presentation of Anna Sinton and Charles Phelps Taft's treasures and its engaging exhibitions, programs, and activities, the Museum creates enjoyment and learning opportunities for all. One specific program, Artists Reaching Classrooms (ARC), has been one of our most successful programs by providing meaningful engagement with Cincinnati’s artistic and cultural community for high school art students.
ARC is an artist-in-residence program that partners working artists with high school art classes to foster artistic development in young artists while underscoring critical and creative thinking and expanding student opportunities through building relationships with artists. ARC brings resident artists into high school art classrooms for a 4-week period, during which artists share their art with students and guide them through an artmaking project - students learn from artists while making art alongside them.
In addition to working with the resident artists in their classrooms, students also experience the Taft Museum of Art with museum educators and the artists-in-residence. While at the museum, students engage in collective meaning making around works in the museum’s collection and explore the annual ARC theme while making connections to their personal artmaking.
