Assistant Vice President for Academic Affairs
Chatham University is now welcoming applications for an Assistant Vice President for Academic Affairs.
Reporting directly to the Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs, the AVPAA will manage a broad portfolio of responsibilities assisting the Provost in advancing the University's strategic priorities related to academic quality, program review and development, and faculty support. The successful candidate will help advance academic excellence by facilitating curricular and new program development, supporting student engagement, learning, satisfaction, and success, and assisting in the onboarding and professional development of full-time and adjunct faculty. The AVPAA will also coordinate with the Deans to execute fiscal and operational plans for academic affairs including the yearly calendar of academic activities (textbook submissions, curriculum submissions, budget requests, annual report due dates, etc.)

Major Duties And Responsibilities
- Collaborate with others to review and revise University policies and procedures to improve clarity and efficiency.
- Represent the Provost/Vice President of Academic Affairs as needed on faculty committees.
- Work with the Deans and Registrar to evaluate the academic calendar and course schedules for efficiency and alignment with 4-year plans to ensure timely student progress and degree completion.
- Work with the deans and faculty to enhance professional development workshops and activities that support instructional delivery and faculty growth.
- Support the hiring, development, and evaluation of full-time and adjunct faculty.
- Support Academic Affairs budget management.
- Work with Institutional Research to support short- and long-range programmatic reviews.
- Aid in the accreditation process for all new and existing programs, including the Middle States Commission for Higher Education.
- Other duties as assigned by the Provost/VPAA
- An earned terminal degree from an accredited university.
- Successful university/college teaching experience and a record of scholarly achievements.
- Several years of successful administrative leadership experience at or above the level of department chair or equivalent.
- Experience working with academic policies and procedures in shared governance environment.
- Demonstrated commitment to equity, diversity, inclusion, and belonging.
- High comfort with spreadsheets and the ability to use data in the decision-making processes.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills and the ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously.
- Strong fiscal acumen and an understanding of higher educational financial practices.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. The ability to act with an open-minded and multi-dimensional approach to problem solving and a willingness to address issues in ways that build consensus and find common ground within a shared governance structure.
- Ability to provide leadership successfully and function effectively on the Provost's senior leadership team.
