Campbell University School of Law seeks outstanding applicants for up to three, entry-level or lateral, full-time, tenured or tenure-track, faculty positions. We welcome candidates in all subject areas, with a particular interest in filling curricular needs in Criminal Law, Criminal Procedure, and Evidence. The positions are nine-month academic appointments that will begin in August 2025, at the rank of Assistant, Associate, or full Professor. Salary and rank will be commensurate with experience.
Education/Experience
Excellent academic credentials with a J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school or equivalent academic degree
At least two years of practice experience, either through private practice, government, or public service, is required (but it is not required that the practice experience be in any specific area(s))
Potential for excellence in teaching (prior law school teaching experience is desirable, but not required)
Potential for outstanding scholarship (prior publications are desirable, but not required)
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
Cooperate with other designated faculty to implement a coordinated curriculum, inclusive of learning objectives
Develop and manage course materials from learning objectives and recommendations from Associate Dean and/or Curriculum Committee
Administer tests, assignments and other exercised that permit measure of knowledge, abilities and/or performance relative to the course learning objectives
Maintain effective and timely communications with students and staff at all times
Provide students with individual feedback on assessments
Administer exams according to Law School guidelines
Complete student record keeping and submit grades in a timely and accurate manner
Participate in departmental, faculty and staff meetings as requested
Uphold and abide by Campbell University policies and procedures, including but not limited to Title IX, and Information Security, including but not limited to FERPA and other state and federal mandates

Ability to work effectively and collegially with faculty, students, and colleagues
Demonstrate skill in teaching and mentoring students
Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills
Demonstrate tact, a positive attitude, courtesy and discretion in dealing with faculty, staff, students, university officials and outside constituencies
Maintain a professional appearance and demeanor at all times
Work independently and function effectively in a team and within a diverse group of people
Comprehensive computer skills, with the ability to learn and utilize new and emerging technology
Knowledge regarding usage of Blackboard and web- based applications
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and common methods of digital communication such as web conferencing, web/text chat
Familiarity using/administering social media platforms
Exercise independent judgment in complex, new, and/or stressful situations
Manage multiple, concurrent projects, and meet set deadlines
Adaptability, flexibility and a willingness to work in a changing environment
