Associate, Editorial and Communications - Remote | WFH

Position Overview

We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Associate, Editorial and Communications to join our team at a prestigious nonpartisan institution located on a university campus in Dallas, Texas. Publications

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the production of all institutional publications, including a flagship journal, email newsletters, podcasts, and various forms of content.
  • Collaborate with publication leads to conduct interviews, source and license imagery, craft engaging headlines and leads, select impactful quotes, curate related content, and publish work using our Content Management System (CMS).
  • Develop and produce content aligned with our mission, particularly for public engagement initiatives, such as web copy and advertisements.
  • Work with our Business Intelligence Analyst to track key performance metrics, ensure reporting, and develop data-driven recommendations.
  • Manage publication and event timelines, ensuring deadlines are met and calendars are up to date.
  • Assist with other duties as required.

Content Distribution

  • Partner with the communications team to promote our flagship journal, including writing and producing email alerts, coordinating social media efforts, and identifying additional opportunities for content distribution.

Media Relations

  • Cultivate local media relationships to effectively pitch stories and secure positive coverage for our programming, events, and museum exhibits, in line with our public engagement mission.

Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • 2-3 years of professional experience in content production and media relations.
  • Exceptional written communication skills, with the ability to translate complex ideas into accessible and engaging content for diverse audiences.
  • Demonstrated attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Basic understanding of SEO principles.
  • Familiarity with AP Style.
  • Proficiency in analytics, including report generation, data analysis, and report delivery.
  • Strong verbal communication skills and professional demeanor.
  • Solid computer skills, including basic photo and video editing, and CMS content entry.
  • Knowledge of HTML/CSS is highly beneficial; familiarity with Javascript and PHP is a plus.
