Chief Design Officer (CDO)

Datalign Advisory is seeking an experienced and visionary Chief Design Officer (CDO) to lead and inspire our design team. The ideal candidate will have 15-20 years of experience in design leadership, with a proven track record of running design teams, building and scaling large design projects, and developing multi-year design strategies. As the CDO, you will play a critical role in shaping the visual and experiential aspects of our brand, ensuring that our design efforts align with our business objectives and resonate with our target audience. Additionally, the CDO must be adept at flexing between individual contributor work and leading teams, and must work collaboratively with multiple cross-functional teams in product, engineering, management, and more.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Leadership:

• Develop and execute a comprehensive, multi-year design strategy that aligns with Datalign Advisory’s vision and goals
• Collaborate with senior leadership to integrate design thinking into the company's overall strategic planning
  
  

Team Management:

• Lead, mentor, and inspire a high-performing design team, fostering a culture of creativity and innovation
• Manage recruitment, development, and retention of top design talent
  
  

Design Excellence:

• Oversee the design of all Datalign Advisory products, ensuring they meet the highest standards of quality and innovation
• Drive the creation of user-centric designs that enhance customer experience and engagement
• Flex between individual contributor work and leading teams to ensure hands-on involvement in critical design tasks
  
  

Project Management:

• Lead and manage large-scale design projects from concept to completion, ensuring they are delivered on time and within budget
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product, engineering, and management, to ensure seamless integration of design elements into product development
  
  

Brand Stewardship:

• Uphold and evolve Datalign Advisory’s brand identity, ensuring consistency across all touchpoints
• Develop and maintain brand guidelines to ensure a cohesive visual language
  
  

Innovation and Trends:

• Stay ahead of industry trends and emerging technologies, incorporating them into design strategies where applicable
• Foster a culture of continuous improvement and innovation within the design team
  
  

Stakeholder Engagement:

• Communicate design vision and strategy to internal and external stakeholders
• Advocate for the value of design within the organization and to clients or partners
  
  

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Design, Fine Arts, or a related field
• 15-20 years of experience in design leadership roles, with a significant portion spent running design teams and managing large-scale design projects
• Proven ability to develop and execute multi-year design strategies
• Strong portfolio showcasing a range of design projects and leadership experience
• Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
• Deep understanding of design principles, methodologies, and tools
• Experience with both digital and physical product design
• Ability to flex between individual contributor work and team leadership
• Proven experience working with cross-functional teams including product, engineering, and management
  
  

Preferred Skills:

• Experience in the financial advisory or related industry
• Knowledge of current design software and tools
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
