Role Description
This is a full-time on-site role for a Controller at IFI Chicago. The Controller will be responsible for overseeing all financial activities, including budgeting, accounting, and financial reporting. They will manage financial risks and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements. The Controller will also provide strategic financial guidance to the leadership team and support decision-making.
Responsibilities:
Oversee day-to-day accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and payroll
Ensure timely and accurate preparation of financial statements, reports, and analyses in accordance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles)
Develop and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with financial regulations and policies
Manage the budgeting and forecasting process, including variance analysis and strategic planning
Coordinate and liaise with external auditors, tax advisors, financial institutions and regulatory agencies as necessary
Lead and mentor the accounting team, providing guidance and support to ensure high performance and professional development
Evaluate and implement accounting software and systems to streamline processes and improve efficiency
Conduct financial analysis to support decision-making and strategic initiatives
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to provide financial insights and support business objectives
Stay educated of changes in accounting standards, regulations, and industry trends to ensure compliance and best practices
Skills & Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field; CPA designation required
Minimum of 3 years of progressive experience in accounting and financial management roles
Thorough understanding of GAAP and financial reporting requirements
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Proven leadership abilities with the ability to motivate and develop a team
Proficiency in accounting software and MS Office
Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
Experience in construction or construction related industry payroll is a plus
