FUNCTION
This position has direct responsibility for the day-to-day operation of the housing program. Youth Counselors create and supervise a safe, affirming environment for residents to meet their needs and progress on goals. They provide one-on-one and group counseling and oversee the functioning of the site. Youth Counselors must be organized and able to work and solve problems independently and communicate effectively with supervisors. All shift are 12 hours.

Technical Skill Requirements
Training/Experience in youth social services required.
Computer knowledge and competent writing skills.
QUALIFICATION NEEDED
Must be highly organized and able to work independently. Experience working with adolescent/young adult population required. Knowledge of psychosocial needs of LGBTQ/homeless population is helpful. Experience in individual and group behavioral counseling. Ability and willingness to work flexible hours, weekends and holidays; may include overnight shifts. Youth Counselors are required to remain awake for the entire duration of their shifts. Transgender & gender non-conforming people are encouraged to apply. Bilingual (Spanish) speaking encouraged to apply.
SCHEDULE: All Shifts are 12 hours, 8-8
Full-Time: 3 shifts a week
On-Calls are required to work 4 shifts a month

- Monitor and supervise youth in program to provide a safe, clean and secure environment
- Maintain a safe, respectful, hospitable, and professional atmosphere
- Provide personal behavioral counseling and referrals
- Facilitate groups or activities as needed
- Prepare and supervise meals
- Help maintain consistency in delivery of services and with regards to programmatic policies
- Document daily services, maintain client charts, progress notes, and group notes
- Communicate with treatment team, IT and Facilities, and program supervisors
- Attend mandatory staff meetings and regular supervision
