We are seeking a highly motivated and self-starting Deputy Controller to manage the financial operations of a high-growth supply chain and working capital platform. Supporting the Controller and CFO, the role works alongside the company's operations and client management departments, supporting inventory and supply chain finance transactions in the company's NetSuite general ledger system.
Compensation: $155,000.00 – $200,000.00 + bonus
Location: New York City – Hybrid (4 days in office / 1 day remote)
Responsibilities as the Deputy Controller, Finance include:
Maintaining general ledger accounts on Oracle NetSuite to meet monthly close deadlines, including managing various accounting aspects such as portfolio valuation, capital activities, and investor inquiries
Maintaining a chart of accounts used to record and report all financial transactions/data
Playing a crucial role in developing annual budgets, forecasts, and cost analyses and providing ongoing variance analysis
Overseeing cash flow management, including detailed cash projections for liquidity reporting, disbursements, wire transfers, and funding requirements
Overseeing the AP flows using a third-party workflow system (Tipalti)
Identifying and implementing opportunities to enhance financial processes, internal controls, and reporting systems
Ensuring compliance with relevant financial regulations, tax laws, and accounting standards and interfacing with tax resources and third-party consulting firms
Collaborating with external auditors during annual financial audits and internal control assessments
Coordinating and mentoring finance professionals
Providing support to the tax team, preparing financial statements, cash reconciliations, and handling various accounting and reporting requirements
Requirements for the Deputy Controller, Finance include:
8-22 years of public/private accounting experience with strong knowledge of investment accounting, financial reporting, and U.S. GAAP
Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or a related field and CPA certification
Minimum of 6 years of progressive financial management experience, with at least 2 years in a managerial role
Experience in accounting/reporting for complex group structures and developing systems, policies, reporting, and processes
Proficiency in financial software and tools, especially Excel; Oracle NetSuite and Tipalti preferred, not required
Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills
High attention to detail and accuracy
Strong initiative, collaboration skills, and the ability to work independently
