Summary
The Planned Giving Director will be responsible for directing, planning, and organizing the administration of ADRA’s planned giving program. S/he will be involved in a full range of donor identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship duties, including working with other development team members to integrate planned giving as a critical component of the Marketing and Development Unit’s strategic fundraising plan.

PRE-REQUISITES
Required
- Relevant undergraduate degree in business, accounting, financial management, public relations, communications, marketing, pre-law, or a related field of study.
- A minimum of five years experience as a planned gifts officer in a non-profit organization, or equivalent experience.
- A proven track record in closing planned gifts.
- Exceptional communications skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in diverse communities.
- North American Division of Seventh-day Adventists Planned Giving and Trust Services Certification.

Responsibilities
Functional Responsibilities
- Lead a comprehensive planned giving program, including bequests, trusts, appreciated stock, IRA distributions, beneficiary donations, and charitable gift annuities. Ensure the program remains part of an integrated plan within the overall development efforts.
- Identify, cultivate, and solicit gifts from planned gift donors and prospects within the Planned Giving Director’s portfolio, negotiate agreements with potentialdonors, andclose planned/deferred gifts.
- Meet with planned giving prospects and their advisors, prepare financial illustrations of proposed gifts, and draft gift agreements for review by prospects and their advisors.
- Work with ADRA staff and board members to orchestrate the cultivation and solicitation of donor prospects.
- Maintain sufficient records, contact reports, and background data to facilitate periodic evaluation of ADRA’s programs and impact. Communicate with planned giving donors through regular interactions and stewardship programs.
- Direct ADRA’s planned giving marketing program in harmony with ADRA’s overall marketing program,including print advertising, annual reports, brochures, direct mail, emails, presentations,and other strategies designed to motivate donors to provide support for ADRA programs.
- Maintain a current North American Division of SDA Planned Giving and Trust Services (PGTS) organizational accreditation and personal certification, as well as keep abreast of current tax laws changes that pertain to charitable giving solicitation and administration.
- In coordination with ADRA’s Major Gifts Officer, identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward those planned gift donors and prospects within the Planned Giving Associate Director’s portfolio who have a concurrent interest and capacity to make a major gift.
- Other duties as assigned.
