The Global Sponsorships & Experiential Marketing team leads 40+ partnerships globally, delivering the best in ticket access, live event and digital experiences across Card Member passion points of sports, music and various other cultural interests. The Director in this role will lead a small internal team and agency partners in managing some of our largest partners, strategies and activations in the US including Formula 1 and the USTA. They will define what winning looks like across strategy, activation development, execution and measurement, collaborating with a 360° cross-functional team (internal and external) to launch fully integrated plans. Approximately 15% travel required to visit partners, manage onsite programs and visit event sites as needed.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Lead 3+ direct reports while spearheading the strategy, creative development and execution of major tennis and motorsport activations, including access and benefits for Card Members, prospect engagement programs, live activation plans, offsite/digital extensions, branding, utilization of contractual media and sponsorship assets and B2B hospitality programs
  • Collaborate and lead robust set of internal and partners to deliver best-in-class plan, from briefing through execution and measurement
  • Maintain large scale budgets in partnership with Finance team and other stakeholders, ensuring close understanding of internal processes and ensuring project comes in at or under budget
  • Develop relationships across American Express enterprise to develop strategic sponsorship programs in support of business priorities relating to both B2B and B2C customers
  • Communicate regular updates and full activation plans in strategic, clear manner to team leadership
  • Represent American Express within tennis and motorsports industries to deepen relationships, knowledge, and development to continue to be on cutting edge of customer experience

Qualifications:

  • 6+ years work experience with focus area in sponsorship, large-scale events, and experiential marketing/partnerships
  • Proven track record in managing external partners, large-scale cross-functional teams and agency partners across experiential, media, content and PR
  • Experience in people leadership including engagement in individual development plans
  • Expert in navigating grey space and building a strategy from the ground up that delivers on team objectives
  • Ability to work under pressure with compressed timelines
  • Maintain balance while managing various work streams while demonstrating strong leadership and composure
  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal), as well as executive presence
  • Focus on innovation and constant appetite to know and learn more about the industry – including experiential marketing, technology, payment innovations and competitive landscape
  • Strong measurement and analytical skills
  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Work location requirements: New York, NY (hybrid)

Salary Range: $130,000.00 to $205,000.00 annually + bonus + equity (if applicable) + benefits
