About The Role
BlueWave has an immediate opening for a Director of Storage Development to support our New York market. This is an opportunity to join an established, high-performing team that has been leading the market in innovation and high-quality execution for a decade. Strong written and verbal communication skills, a working understanding of the development process, attention to detail, creativity and thoroughness are essential to success in this position. The ideal candidate will live in and have the ability to travel throughout New York State, along with coming into our Boston, MA headquarters on a regular basis (to be discussed based on location and needs of team).

What You'll Do
- Identifying crucial developments and trends that affect the viability of the Company’s current and future storage project development pipeline
- Supporting the Company’s culture of teamwork and collaboration by organizing and participating in Company and volunteer events
- Be, or be willing to become, knowledgeable in battery storage project development
- Supporting project acquisitions
- Supporting real estate negotiations as carried out by the larger Development and Site Acquisition teams
- Facilitating relationships with external consultants
- Overseeing project permitting, incentive application and tax abatement activities
- Collaborating with internal teams such as grid integration, legal, offtake, engineering, construction, operations and government affairs
- Representing the company at regional industry association meetings
- Overseeing and taking responsibility for project budgets and schedules
- Bachelor’s degree (engineering concentration or real estate experience desirable, MBA a strong plus)
- Minimum 3-5 years of previous experience in energy project development required – preferably in distribution or utility scale battery storage projects
- Solid understanding of the development process for community and/or utility scale projects
- Ability to deal with local community dynamics, as well as negotiate effectively with landowners and other stakeholders
- Technical understanding of storage projects
- Excellent project management skills with a highly organized approach
