SUMMARY
The Director of Category Management will manage, influence and inspire a team of Category Mangers on the advancements of their product category business units. They will be responsible for managing and training the team to ensure organizational alignment of each category’s business performance metrics. They will drive accountability and focus to assist in the achievement of the company’s revenue and profitability targets.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Aggressively pursues category revenue goals to meet monthly, quarterly, and annual sales volume and margin objectives through category managers support of the sales team.
Manage product Category teams to ensure alignment to overall company objectives
Manage Category forecasts to assist supply chain on product purchases
Aggregate overall category strategies for existing industry segments, along with development of categories for advancement to new markets
Define Category pricing strategies
Own and track monthly/annual category growth and operational metrics (KPI’s)
Responsible for interviewing, hiring, coaching, and development of category sales employees.
Work with category managers to ensure proper training for sales team as well as defining marketing messaging.
Conduct ongoing scans of the market: product, technology, competitive and trends.
Define category product strategies and work with Product Management to execute
Ensures integrity of sales data by monitoring information in CRM on a weekly basis. Be able to utilize the resources available (i.e. SFDC, Tableau) to analyze sales and customer data. Communicates necessary information to our supply chain team on a regular basis.
Responsible for category growth through proper support, monitoring, and proactive identification of cross-selling opportunities in core industries.
Provide input to Product Development on desirable and required product features and forecast volumes to manufacturing.
Promote product lines via industry networking
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
5+ years sales management experience with proven track record of developing sales team members to exceed goals
8+ years hands on B to B sales experience
Master of Business Administration (MBA) preferred
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED
Desire and ability to work in fast-paced environment and be part of a high-performance team
Ability a assimilate a large amount of data and analyze to create actionable plans
Excellent organizational skills
Proven track record of leadership
Project management skills
Proficient in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and CRM (Salesforce.com)
Ability to travel 30%
