Director of Operations

Job Description

Position Overview: We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Operations Manager to lead and develop a high-performance Operations team for a strong construction company. The ideal candidate will provide leadership to create world-class processes and procedures, implementing comprehensive Operations programs including policies, practices, systems, and documentation and HAVE EXPERIENCE WORKING IN A CONSTRUCTION SETTING.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Train and develop a high-performance Operations team.
  • Create and implement world-class Operations processes and procedures.
  • Manage Operations programs, including policies, systems, and documentation.
  • Coordinate basic accounting, project cost, trend reports, WIP, CSRs, and monthly forecasts with the financial team.
  • Oversee the preparation and setup of budgets, billings, change orders, and negotiation with subcontractors.
  • Negotiate and manage contracts with subcontractors, owners, contractors, and vendors.
  • Ensure timely completion of procurement procedures in conjunction with the purchasing team.
  • Administer subcontract requirements, ensuring conformance with agreements and contract documents.
  • Coordinate ordering, processing, and delivery of materials and equipment.
  • Oversee and verify billings, ensuring materials invoiced and work billed are delivered.
  • Conduct turnover and pre-production planning meetings.
  • Develop accurate budgets and ensure prompt review of purchase orders and contracts.
  • Provide training, mentoring, coaching, and leadership to the Operations team.
  • Implement and analyze productivity tracking on a weekly basis.
  • Complete accurate and timely monthly cost projections for projects.
  • Maintain relationships with owners, customers, engineers, and vendors.
  • Continuously improve procedures, productivity, and efficiency with team input.

Qualifications:

  • Proven track record in Project Management and delivery of complex projects/programs.
  • Experience in Project Management, Product Management, and Integration; Manufacturing experience is a plus.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, administrative skills, and work ethic.
  • 10+ years in data center, power, and modular construction.
  • 10+ years of customer-facing experience liaising with suppliers and customers.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent.
  • Experience in the construction, manufacture, and integration of mission-critical facilities and modular products.
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships with employees, customers, and suppliers.
  • Strong negotiation skills with the ability to negotiate at all levels.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, interpersonal, influencing, and problem-solving skills.
  • Results-oriented with the ability to plan and deliver against deadlines.
  • Lean Six Sigma training and experience.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and databases.
  • Experience in a fast-paced, hands-on business environment with team responsibility.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and work under pressure.
  • Capable of negotiating critical and controversial issues with Company leadership.
  • Ability to make authoritative decisions and recommendations impacting the Company.
  • High degree of creativity, foresight, and mature judgment in planning and organizing extensive programs.
  • Experience with ERP and project management systems, including Viewpoint and Bluebeam.

Minimum Physical Requirements:

  • Work in indoor, dusty, and noisy areas.
  • Work in high places, tight spaces, and confined areas.
  • Stand for long periods.
  • Lift and carry 51 to 75 lbs. occasionally, and/or 31 to 45 lbs. frequently.
  • Balance, kneel, squat, crouch, bend, lean, stand, walk, and climb.
  • Use Personal Protection Equipment as required.
  • Work near moving mechanical parts and in varying temperature conditions.
  • Lift, push, pull, or carry objects using abdominal and lower back muscles.
  • Noise levels range from quiet to loud.
  • Hazards associated with the industry.
  • Ability to travel and engage in customer activities off-hours.
