The Role

Lead all Business Operations for Player & Coach Development; in alignment with the goals of Player Development and the Strategic Priorities of the USTA. To minimize risk in every aspect of PD operations, especially ensuring that Player Development goes above and beyond in prioritizing player safety and wellness in compliance with SafeSport guidelines, policies and procedures. This position will support the USTA’s overall SafeSport function; with a goal of the USTA becoming the leading NGB in this area. This position will also work cross-functionally with individuals from Pro Tennis, CT and the Foundation in a systematic Player Relations function that will leverage player relationships to support the promotion of grassroots, junior, collegiate and wheelchair initiatives along with general support of USTA Foundation programs and initiatives Contribute to the implementation of the Community Tennis strategic plan and Play & Competition Department overall vision and strategy as it relates to Adult Social Play

Business Operations

  • Develop, execute and manage all operational aspects of Player & Coach Development. To include yearly business plans, budget management, hire and training staff, develoment and implement of policies and procedures as directed by the GM
  • Oversee and guide of all facility and capital maintenance, programming and operations for PD in Orlando and Carson.
  • Lead PD’s staff HR related matters including, onboarding and departures of employees
  • Work closely with our Sponsorship team to ensure compliance with all Third Party partnerships and sponsorships
  • Lead PD relationship for provision of Athletic Medicine with Nemours / Advent / Rothmans Orthopedic group

Coach and Player Services Management

  • Develop and manage Coach and Player Services department for Player & Coach Development. To include setting and enforcing guidelines for coaches and players traveling domestically and internationally to ensure safety and cost effectiveness.
  • Direct and optimize all athletes coming to National Training Centers ensure effective and efficiencies for a player centric experience.
  • Additional responsibilities for being the PD lead for overseeing all operations and logistics during ITF Junior and Pro Circuit events held on Campus

Risk Management

  • Oversight of the safety, health and wellbeing of athletes, coaches and staff of the PCD program.
  • Develop and ensure all USTA, SafeSport, USOPC, Anti-corruption and Anti-Doping policies for PD staff are understood and followed.
  • Direct and supervise to ensure USTA player paperwork, medical information, waivers, insurance, etc. are appropriately filled out for every player and coach.
  • Preemptively identify opportunities to minimize risk and maximize safety, wellness and to ensure that PD training environments are welcoming and foster high performance training standards and behaviors
  • Promptly and comprehensively flag risks and incidents in Incident Reports that document all breaches of policy and to share and communicate those Incident Reports with Legal and our SafeSport team members when appropriate

Who You Are

  • College degree
  • Ability to work well both independently and as part of USTA Player & Coach Development
  • Minimum of 5 years working in a Tennis Club, Federation, Tennis Academy or related business with experience in staff management, lodge operations and facility / court maintenance.
  • Effective and efficient communication skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively and effectively lead, manage and develop staff – including but not limited to, goal setting, performance reviews, employee conduct and counseling
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access
  • High Level of organizational and writing skills
  • Position is considered exempt
  • Weekend work required

This position is a mandatory onsite position – not hybrid

The expected range for the base salary for this position is $115,000 – $140,000. This role is bonus eligible. This range does not include any additional pay or benefits for which a person may qualify. The actual base salary offered is determined by several variables, including, as appropriate, the applicant's qualifications for the position, the years of relevant experience, their unique skills, and the location from which they will be performing the job.
