Job Description

The Director assists the Vice President of Corporate Finance & Treasury to ensure that all transactions are accounted for in accordance with GAAP accounting standards and IRS regulations, ensuring all required reporting is accurate and timely. To accomplish this, the Director maintains an active role in monthly account analysis, review of journal entries and book close, and will oversee the Accounts Payable and Non-Patient Accounts Receivable billing and collection functions for the System. Ensures that the accounts payable and non-patient receivable function is timely and accurate. The Accounts Payable Manager will report directly to this position. The Director will work in collaboration with Compliance, Legal, Finance, HR, Materials Management, and other areas of Support as needed, delivering the best possible experience.

Supports the Vice President in system treasury operations and perform other duties and special projects as assigned. Treasury functions include but are not limited to cash positioning, cash forecasting, ad-hoc treasury reporting and analysis, investment accounting, bond debt compliance and covenant reporting, online banking administration, and bank account management including banking fee expense management. The Treasury Analyst will report directly to this position.

Responsible for grant compliance and accounting for the System, including overseeing and coordinating all grant required filings, including but not limited to the annual Uniform Guidance Audits. Additionally, will provide oversight of reporting and operations for the System and its entities, including supporting the Foundations, Clinical Research, and Endowment requirements. The Grant Accounting Analyst will report directly to this position.

Coordinates effectively with Senior Leadership and Physician Leaders to review mergers/combinations/acquisitions, and other regulatory research, including but not limited to tax, and valuation work and properly recording in accordance with GAAP.

Provides strategic guidance around capital financing options to support company growth needs.

Ensures that core financial systems and financial processes are in place and are delivering highly satisfactory results to key operations customers across the organization. Such systems and processes include general accounting systems, payable systems, miscellaneous receivable systems, payroll systems, cash flow forecasts and projections, among others.

Guides financial decisions by establishing financial policies, procedures, controls, and reporting systems. Protects assets by establishing, monitoring, and enforcing internal controls.

Complies with federal, state, and local legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation, anticipating future legislation, enforcing adherence to requirements, filing financial reports, and advising management on needed actions. Assists with accounting operations, payables and miscellaneous receivables. Issues regular status and ad hoc reports to senior leadership.

Ensures the successful completion of the annual year-end audit by the external auditors. Coordinates and collaborates with the Corporate Compliance Officer on the completion of regular internal audits as determined from time to time. Provides strategic financial counsel and education to the CFO, Board and top management team as necessary for areas of responsibility.

Leads and maintains an atmosphere of superb customer service and prompt responsiveness. Mentors, guides and provides professional development opportunities to key team members. At minimum will supervise the Grant Analyst, Treasury Analyst, AP manager and team and Sr. Corporate Accountant.

Establish a high level of professionalism; set a tone of leadership that creates a culture that is proactive, collaborative, people-oriented and customer-service driven. Maintains strong communications and relationships between finance and its constituents.

Establishes performance indicators to evaluate effectiveness of assigned job responsibilities and projects.

What You Will Bring

Education

Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or related field required

Master's degree or CPA required

Experience

Minimum of 10 years accounting, finance, or treasury experience required, preferable in healthcare and including an increasing higher levels of responsibility.

Management level experience preferred with demonstrated ability to form, lead and develop high-performing teams required.

Experience with implementation of new ERP systems.

Public Accounting Experience Preferred.

Certification & Licensures

CPA required in lieu of Master's degree

Qualifications

Knowledge of US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), in additional to hospital and health system policies required. Familiarity with IRS regulations, federal grant regulations, and other legal regulations and requirements, the ability to establish strong internal controls and develop financial reporting, as required.

Cash planning and forecasting experience.

Experience with business acquisition transactions, specifically in advising in structure and execution for accounting purposes.

Ability to execute and integrate complex financial analyses required. Proficient in Microsoft Office products required.

Excellent Written And Verbal Communication Skills Required.

Ability to communicate with all levels of personnel and management in a large organization required. Excellent organizational skills required.

Deadline-oriented and ability to multi-task required.

Demonstrated knowledge of accounting systems and experience in implementation and/or conversion of accounting systems required.

Demonstrated Ability To Work Collaboratively Across Departmental Functions Required.

Strong knowledge of computer software programs and ERP systems.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

High level of interpersonal skills.
