Are you passionate about directing, capturing, and producing compelling projects that leave a lasting impression? We're looking for a dynamic individual to join our global SafetyCulture Visual Experience (VX) team and lead innovative production initiatives across North America.

Your role

As Director of our new AMER VX team, you'll collaborate with an established production team based in Sydney, and have the opportunity to spearhead a variety of projects that engage and inspire audiences across the globe. From intimate documentary-style shoots where you'll be hands-on as a shooting director with a flexible crew, to larger-scale commercial or narrative productions where you'll lead a team of talented professionals to execute on your creative vision.

As SafetyCulture continues to scale globally, you will be instrumental in contributing to our strategic growth across the AMER region. As a trusted advisor, you'll help us maintain our position as world-class storytellers, balancing ambitious goals with nimble, cost-effective execution. Your leadership will help shape the future of our core production team in AMER where you will have the longer term opportunity to build a high performing production team around you.

What do I need?

  • A deep knowledge and understanding of the SafetyCulture product and how it improves the workplaces and operations of our customers in every industry around the world.
  • Customer Centric: Deeply empathize with our audience to understand their pain points and the satisfaction they feel from effective solutions. Drive content that is human-centered, engaging, and impactful by prioritizing customer insights.
  • Creative Leadership: Utilize your expertise in storytelling and understanding of our product and audience to bring creative ideas to life from our Brand and Marketing teams. Aim for world-class storytelling and imagery that positions SafetyCulture as a global leader.
  • Creative Mentorship: Contribute to our brand strategy and tone of voice through your storytelling experience. Provide mentorship within the VX team and across global teams to help maintain a cohesive creative vision.
  • Stakeholder Management: Successfully manage multiple stakeholders, resolving creative differences while ensuring alignment with project objectives.
  • Directing Experience: Demonstrate proficiency in documentary directing, including strong interviewing and interpersonal skills. Strong on-set leadership skills. Additional experience in commercial or narrative production is advantageous.
  • Filming Skills: Showcase self-filmed work as a Director of Photography and camera operator with a defined visual aesthetic. Experience as a DP leading gaffers and lighting crews, with a collaborative approach on set.
  • Producing Expertise: Plan and lead small to medium-sized productions (2-12 crew), emphasizing creative and efficient execution with a versatile team of multi-skilled professionals.
  • Post-Production Oversight: Collaborate with editors and post-production teams to oversee and guide projects through editorial completion, maintaining creative integrity while meeting business and stakeholder needs. Background in editing or motion graphics is beneficial.
  • Travel Readiness: Willingness to travel approximately one week per month for production and filming, including traveling with a lightweight camera kit when necessary.
