The team

Field Applications Scientists (FASs) are essential members of the commercial team, being the scientific and technical experts in the field. They build deep consultative relationships with customers, supporting them to make the most of biomodal's technology to address their specific research goals. The team leverages its knowledge of epigenetics, genomics, NGS sample preparation and data analysis to ensure customer success, building biomodal's reputation as the go-to company for multiomics solutions. As such, the team is vitally important in the education of prospects, on-boarding of new customers and cultivation of long term relationship and trust between biomodal and the customer.

The role

Biomodal is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Field Applications Scientist (FAS) Manager to lead our FAS team. As the Field Applications Scientist Manager, you will play a crucial role in driving customer success, providing technical expertise, and managing a team of field applications scientists. You will collaborate closely with sales, business development, marketing, and R&D teams to support the adoption and utilization of Biomodal's innovative technologies in the research and clinical settings.



The person

The ideal candidate will be an experienced FAS within the omics domain that has direct people management experience. They should be highly competent supporting both the wet lab and informatics aspects of omics technologies and ideally be highly versed in NGS workflows across the most common platforms. This person should have a strong understanding and/or experience in managing a global FAS team, high attention to detail and exceptional communication skills.

Key responsibilities

• Team Leadership: Lead and mentor a team of Field Applications Scientists, providing guidance, training, and support to ensure high performance and professional growth.
• Customer Engagement: Build strong relationships with key customers, understanding their scientific needs, challenges, and objectives. Provide technical expertise and support to enable successful implementation and utilization of Biomodal's products.
• Technical Support: Serve as a subject matter expert on Biomodal's technologies, applications, and workflows. Provide advanced technical support to customers, troubleshooting complex issues, and delivering solutions effectively.
• Collaboration: Collaborate cross-functionally with sales, marketing, and R&D teams to drive customer engagement, product development, and market expansion initiatives.
• Training and Education: Develop and deliver technical training programs, workshops, and seminars for customers and internal teams to enhance product knowledge and application proficiency.
• Market Insights: Stay informed about market trends, competitive landscape, and emerging technologies in the biotechnology industry. Provide insights and recommendations to support strategic decision-making.
• Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate records of customer interactions, technical inquiries, and product feedback. Prepare regular reports and updates for management on key performance metrics, customer feedback, and market trends.
  
  
  
  

Qualifications

• PhD or Master's degree in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, or related field.
• Proven experience in a customer-facing technical role within the life sciences industry, preferably in a field applications scientist or related position.
• Prior experience in team leadership or management roles preferred.
• Strong technical proficiency in molecular biology techniques, genomics, and related instrumentation.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage with diverse stakeholders.
• Proven ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues and deliver solutions in a fast-paced environment.
• Demonstrated leadership capabilities, with the ability to inspire and motivate a team towards common goals.
