Fund Controller

Our client is a real estate fund. They seek a Fund Controller to join their White Plains, NY office.

Responsibilities

• Ensure accurate records of fund transactions, including capital calls, distributions, and investment activities
• Produce monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports for investors and senior management
• Reconcile fund accounts, calculate and maintain performance fees, and carry calculations for payout investors
• Uphold compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and industry standards in financial reporting
• Manage the annual audit process and assist in the preparation of investor communications and presentations
• Work with external tax advisors to ensure accurate tax compliance for the real estate investment funds
• Handle the preparation and distribution of Schedule K-1 forms to investors, summarizing their allocable share of income
• Liaise with tax advisors to ensure the proper allocation and reporting of items such as depreciation and capital gains
• Support tax audits or disputes, providing documentation and support to address tax-related inquiries
• Identify and mitigate financial and operational risks within the funds and develop and implement internal controls

Requirements

• 8+ years of fund accounting experience
• Real estate fund or private equity background
• Private/combo accounting background
• Strong managerial and communication skills
• Organized, analytical, and detail-oriented
• CPA strongly preferred
• Skilled in Excel, Investran, and Yardi/MRI/RealPage
