Are you a professor at an HBCU? Looking for a tech capstone project to implement in your curriculum? Pathway Community Foundation (PCF) seeks professors to join the HBCU Smart Cities Program.


The HBCU Smart Cities program is a capstone project for students to build technology solutions for their cities. PCF partners with cities to tackle real-world problems over a span of 3 - 4 months. PCF provides the curriculum, resources for students, and technical support.

Our flagship program, the HBCU Smart Cities Challenge, brings together students, educators, and industry professionals to solve real-world urban challenges using cutting-edge technology and innovative thinking.


Position Overview:

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate HBCU Capstone Professor to partner with the Pathway Community Foundation in implementing the Smart Cities Challenge program. This role is instrumental in guiding and mentoring students as they develop and execute projects that address critical urban issues. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in urban planning, smart city technologies, and a commitment to fostering educational excellence.


Key Responsibilities:

1. Program Implementation:

- Collaborate with Pathway Community Foundation to integrate the Smart Cities Challenge program into the existing curriculum.

2. Student Mentorship:

- Guide and mentor students through the capstone project process, from ideation to execution.

- Facilitate regular check-ins and feedback sessions to monitor student progress and address challenges.

3. Partnership Development:

- Liaise with Pathway Community Foundation staff and industry partners to enhance the program's resources and opportunities.

- Engage with city officials and stakeholders to align student projects with real-world urban challenges and opportunities.


Qualifications:

- A Master’s degree or higher in Urban Planning, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.

- Experience in teaching or mentoring at the college level, preferably within an HBCU setting.

- Strong communication and organizational skills.

- Ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders, including students, faculty, industry partners, and city officials.

- A commitment to fostering educational excellence and student success.
