We are currently seeking a Head of Applied Science on behalf of a Seed-stage LLM startup. The business develop their own Foundation Models as products and also have an AI Lab which focuses on conducting advanced research into LLMs, specifically focusing around scalability, efficiency and safety.

Their Founding Team is comprised of ex-leaders from Uber, Meta, and Amazon, and they are specifically looking for a visionary Applied Science Leader to join this team and mentor, manage and lead their team of PhD-educated Research Scientists from leading tech companies like Scale AI, Salesforce, X and IBM.

As the Head of Applied Science, you will take the helm of their AI Lab, leading a team of researchers in both theoretical and applied research. Your role will involve expanding this team, foster a culture of innovation, and drive the development of their Foundation Models. This is a unique opportunity to shape the future of LLMs and their applications, working at the cutting edge of AI research and development.

Qualifications:

• PhD in Computer Science, Machine Learning, NLP or a closely related field
• Proven experience leading advanced AI/ML research teams, preferably in LLMs at a recognized organization - FAANG or a leading Generative AI startup
• Strong publication record in top-tier AI/ML conferences and journals
• Strong background in developing and deploying large-scale machine learning models.
• Demonstrated ability to lead and grow a team of highly skilled research scientists.
