Summary

The purpose of the Juvenile Justice Clinician position is to act as a stabilizer and provide assessment, counseling and service linkage to youth at risk of becoming involved in the juvenile justice system and/or at risk of delinquency. This position provides individual, family and/or group therapy, life skills training, and educational & therapeutic group activities as defined by client need to 10-17-year-old youth within the program service area.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

Include the following and other duties may be assigned as needed.

Daily Job Duties

  • Maintain an active caseload of 25-30 youth at risk of delinquency at a time
  • Attend any scheduled Clinical Team meetings within assigned area for purposes of ongoing program development related to clinical efficacy, case review/staffing, and professional development
  • Facilitate groups for discretionary clients – at risk of delinquency within designated LANs
  • Ensure all required intake documentation is complete and accurate.
  • Responsible for maintaining active CCBYS client files with documents not exceeding more than 2 weeks past due
  • Monitor and supervise clients to ensure their safety and well-being during programming hours and transport.
  • Assist Crisis Intervention Specialist with Juvenile Justice partner collaboration and outreach
  • Collaborate with Reporting Center staff regarding participant referrals
  • All other duties as assigned

Training Requirements

  • Complete all Core Curriculum training(s) required for the position.
  • Comply with IDHS program standards and requirements for CCBYS
  • Comply with the State of Illinois mandated reporting law.
  • Complete all required Federal, Illinois Department of Human Services (IDHS) and Agency Core Curriculum and Mandated Reporter trainings, meetings and workshops as required.
  • Complete all other trainings as assigned.

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

EDUCATION And/or EXPERIENCE

Master’s degree (MA/MS/MSW) required. Previous experience with at-risk youth preferred.

Other Qualifications

  • Must be available to work evenings and weekend and flexible in scheduling.
  • Will be required to transport clients in own vehicle.
  • Must be able to accept and incorporate constructive feedback.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

  • Valid Illinois driver’s license with a clear driving record.
  • Documentation verifying current automobile insurance.
  • LCPC or LCSW Preferred – LPC or LSW required.
