Summary

Electrical and Controls PSS provides real time technical and hands-on controls support for manufacturing machinery as a member of a maintenance team. This role also contributes to Operations, Maintenance and Engineering by establishing and maintaining a robust controls structure and methodology. This role contributes to capital processes by providing short-range and long-range controls and automation requirements and plans that can be used in new processes as well as machinery upgrades. This role will continually Identify new technologies and execute controls projects to improve the overall competitive position of the facility.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

  • Ability to debug new equipment and to troubleshoot complex electrical and mechanical systems.
  • Supports maintenance troubleshooting by effectively going on-line with PLCs, VFDs, servos, communications devices, vision systems, etc. using a variety of software tools.
  • Ability to train others in all aspects of PLC’s, programming, instrumentation, controls, and vision systems.
  • Maintains and upholds the plant controls standards.
  • Recommends standard components and platforms for stocking and projects.
  • Manages the controls network topology and interface to the IT and business infrastructure.
  • Develops controls architecture and methods of new applications and upgrades.
  • Develops, supports, and maintains software/program techniques.
  • Supports the continuous improvement system by providing design methods and approaches afforded by automation in support of the Professional Maintenance and Early Management Pillars of a TPM process.
  • Trains other members of the maintenance and technical staff on standards, techniques, and methodologies
  • Provides electrical, controls and instrumentation support for projects and new equipment installations.
  • Aggressively identifies opportunities to improve plant performance through the application of new technology and/or improved reliability of current technology.
  • Contributes to the maintenance of current schematics, BOMs, programs and other documentation of production equipment for the facility.

Knowledge And Skill Requirement

  • 5 years of experience with machine control and automation in a manufacturing environment
  • Electrical power and control experience with the ability to program and trouble shoot: the Allen Bradley family of PLC’s and interfaces, code dating equipment, Vision Systems, SPC, and related industrial hardware, programming, and systems.
  • Must be extremely computer proficient.
  • Must have effective written and oral communication skills.
  • Must be self-motivated and able to support multiple priorities and projects simultaneously.
  • Must be mechanically inclined and willing to support any shift.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents, layout, and instrumentation drawings, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
  • Must be able to react quickly and effectively to dynamic business conditions and motivate others to do the same.
  • Ability to organize work assignments, communicate status and request support across multiple shifts and departments.
  • Ability to write correspondence, effectively present information to both internal and external teams.
