Position Summary:
The Manager, Procurement - Indirect manages the daily procurement activities to ensure continuity of supply, competitive pricing, quality and technical innovation by managing the indirect and service category spend in support of the strategic plan.

Position Summary:
The Manager, Procurement - Indirect manages the daily procurement activities to ensure continuity of supply, competitive pricing, quality and technical innovation by managing the indirect and service category spend in support of the strategic plan.
Accountabilities:
- Execute strategies and approaches to achieve goals set out by local, regional and global management.
- Deliver/drive results in area of responsibility by working with internal and external customers.
- Study market trends, interview, research and audit suppliers and determine those who can supply indirect materials or service on a global and/or local basis at the lowest overall cost to the corporation.
- Negotiate, establish and monitor contracts and/or local contracts on all domestic indirect materials or services.
- Take ownership and actively manage the specifications, supplier base and contracts for all assigned categories.
- Responsible for leading transformational change and projects.
- Lead team with Business Partner model to increase indirect spend effectiveness and, where possible, reduce indirect spend.
- Monitor and analyze indirect spend, prioritize categories for strategic sourcing.
- Set value creation (including savings) targets for team.
- Accountable for limiting the price variance as it relates to the budget vs actual spend.
- Own key supplier relationships and monitor and report supplier performance.
- Develop market intelligence (margin impacts, what if) on key suppliers and services.
- Provide monthly procurement updates.
- Administration and audit on the purchase card program.
- Ensure contracts are followed for assigned indirect materials and services.
- Management of direct reports: continuous development and training of own team; goal setting, appraisals, and motivation of employees. Retention of talent. Ensure connection and alignment of career path for technical members with Technology leaders. Drive procurement best practices based on internal and external benchmarking. Key leadership aspects include embracing and engraining Quaker Houghton culture in the organization by bringing core values to life, encouraging and modeling transparent communication and teamwork to drive change, and coaching and counseling team members.
- Travel expectations are minimal, approximately 10% domestic.
- Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university; or at least eight years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum 5 years of indirect buying experience required.
- People management experience preferred
- Experience using JDE or other ERP system a plus
- CPSM, ISM, APICS or related certification preferred
- Lean Six Sigma experience preferred
- Purchase card administration experience helpful
- Strong business background and ability to understand customer needs
