We are on the lookout for a well-organised and experienced individual to take the position of a Marine Warranty and Vessel Assurance Surveyor to join our team of maritime experts at ABL Group in New Orleans, United States.

What you will be doing.

As our Marine Warranty and Vessel Assurance Surveyor, you will be working as a core member of our team in the southeast of the US, you will undertake vessel surveys and Dynamic Positioning projects for our clients. This could include overseeing trials and inspecting systems on DP vessels, and or conducting marine warranty surveys. In addition, you will:

  • Ensure that our client's vessels comply with relevant international and local regulations, industry standards, and company policies. This includes reviewing documents, equipment specifications, and procedures.
  • Conduct marine assurance and Dynamic Positioning studies and projects.
  • Conduct surveys and assignments for other ABL Energy services business lines as requested.
  • Ensure all operations, deliverables and quality of reports are by approved instructions, and ABL procedures and policies.
  • Undertake business development activities including the promotion of marine assurance and Dynamic Positioning services with local clients.
  • Responsible for delivery of quality documents within a timeline established by management and client.

This position will be based in New Orleans and the job holder must be based locally. Attendance offshore or at a client site is likely to be required at short notice.

What we are looking for.

Ideally, you will have sailed on DP vessels and have some broad experience from working on different types of vessels. More specifically, we are looking for the following:

  • Master Mariner (STCW class 1), Chief Engineer (STCW class 1).
  • Experience within the Maritime surveying and consultancy industry. However, we are happy to consider candidates looking to move into a shore-based position.
  • Experience in conducting or exposure to vessel surveys and inspections.
  • Proven experience with DP systems, including both offshore operations and DP system assessments is desirable.
  • Proficiency in conducting thorough inspections of vessels, offshore structures, equipment, and procedures desirable.
  • CMID, OCMIF OVID, or SOMWS accreditation is beneficial.
