#### **POSITION SUMMARY**

Miami Waterkeeper (MWK), a champion for clean water solutions in South Florida, is seeking a talented and experienced Filmmaker and Content Creator, to execute MWK’s digital storytelling to raise awareness about environmental issues and climate resiliency, shaping the visual narrative and impact on the future of South Florida’s environmental outcomes.

A natural storyteller with a background in documentary work, and a passion for exploring and documenting South Florida’s water stories, this position will play a pivotal role in advancing the mission and vision of Miami Waterkeeper by producing compelling visual content focused on climate resiliency, policy, advocacy, community and event initiatives.

Our ideal candidate will be adept at every aspect of the filmmaking process, including storyboarding, producing, and editing/post-production (especially for social media format), and will be required to tailor production styles and tone for different types of deliverables and community needs. The ability to accelerate at a time of rapid environmental response is critical. Some script writing may be required.

This role will report to the Chief Marketing Officer and will work closely with the Executive Director/Waterkeeper.

#### **KEY RESPONSIBILITIES**

You will create short- and long-form content and will oversee all aspects of the production process, including writing, directing, editing and production; working with the Communications Specialist to distribute your work through paid, owned and earned marketing channels, including short films, documentaries, with a focus on brand, web and social media content.

  • Scriptwriting: Partner with our teams to create engaging and informative MWK scripts to effectively communicate environmental messages and the work of Miami Waterkeeper to diverse audiences. Note, this role will entail unscripted video edits as well, including interviews, events, and nature-based videos.
  • Storyboarding: Create detailed storyboards to outline visual elements and flow.
  • Producing: Oversee production, including location scouting, scheduling, and budget. Animation skills would be ideal, but not required.
  • Filming: Utilize professional filming equipment, including cameras, lenses, and drones, to capture high-quality footage in various environments, including outdoor and underwater, and event settings.
  • Editing: Convert raw footage into polished narratives using industry-standard editing software.
  • Post-production: Enhance visual and audio elements, add special effects, and ensure that the final product meets quality standards using AI-based software like Adobe After Effects or DaVinci Resolve.
  • Digital Dissemination: Create content formats suitable for web and social media, including YouTube, Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn and X, and more
  • Performance: Understand which content types and formats are performing best, via insights from the Marketing Team.
  • Brand: Develop and implement production strategies that align with MWK’s goals and branding requirements. Maintain consistency across all touchpoints: reinforce MWK’s imagery and voice for audiences and channels.
  • Compliance: Ensure compliance with legal and industry standards regarding intellectual property rights, copyright laws, and usage rights for all produced assets.
  • Equity: Ensuring that production meets the diversity of the community.

**Cross-Functional Collaboration**

  • Internal: Produce content for teams such as Development, Policy, Education and Outreach, and Grants such as sizzle/show/demo reels and filming at industry events, as it aligns to your team’s [Marketing] content strategy, branding and timelines.
  • External: Work closely with environmental experts, researchers, activists, and other stakeholders to ensure accuracy, validate data and guarantee authenticity in storytelling.
  • Stay Current: Keep abreast of emerging trends, technologies, and best practices in environmental filmmaking to continuously improve skills and techniques, as well as tracking Miami Waterkeeper’s campaigns, events, and ongoing issues.

**Project Management**

  • Asset Governance: Create and organize film making assets, including tagging and storage governance.
  • Resolve production-related challenges that may arise, ensuring minimal impact on timelines and quality.
  • Flexibility: Develop innovative and fresh ideas for production and storytelling, yet be able to more to rigid briefs and to pivot to respond to ongoing events
  • Travel: Willingness to travel and work in various locations, including remote, outdoor and water environments.

#### REQUIRED EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's degree in Film Production, Environmental Science, Communication, or related field (preferred) and 3+ years of industry experience in videography.
  • Experience with short-form and long-form (including documentary style) production for usage across paid, owned and earned marketing channels.
  • Proficiency in storyboarding, filming, and editing using industry-standard software and equipment, demonstrated by a strong portfolio.
  • Strong creative vision and attention to detail, with a passion for storytelling and raising awareness about environmental issues and unique perspectives.
  • Videography and video editing experience (such as at least one of Adobe After Effects/Premier Pro, DaVinci Resolve, CapCut, Final Cut Pro, NVIDIA Studio etcetera) and experience with tools such as Canva and closed captioning.
  • Knowledge of environmental issues and sustainability practices.

#### **DESIRED EXPERIENCE**

  • Experience shooting on and underwater is a plus (or having managed production), as is experience with environmental stories and events.
  • Experience shooting on and under the water is a must, as being up-to-date with emerging trends, tools, and production technologies.
  • Ability to speak English and Spanish and/or French is an advantage, but not essential.
  • Past exposure working with/ within an advertising/media agency or production company.

#### **LOCATION**

Miami, FL. Travel may be required.

#### **SALARY RANGE**

**$65,000 - $75,000 (full-time)**
