The Role

We are looking for a motivated Papua New Guinea Researcher to join our team. This remote position involves collecting, reviewing, and managing political violence and protest data across Papua New Guinea and the Pacific Region. This role requires 20 hours per week, offering flexibility to work from any location with reliable internet access.

Key Responsibilities

Collect and code data from news, NGO reports, and other sources into Excel templates.

Ensure data quality, consistency, and reliability through meticulous review and management.

Contribute to detailed and quantitative data analysis.

Requirements

University degree in conflict studies, peacebuilding, international development, or a related field.

Proficiency in Excel and fluent in English and Tok Pisin.

Experience in desk-based research and meeting deadlines independently.

Strong attention to detail and ability to incorporate feedback.

Previous experience in conflict research or peace-building is advantageous, especially in Papua New Guinea.

Access to a computer, reliable internet, and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

Additional Information

Initial consultancy period from July 2024 to June 2025, with potential for extension based on performance and funding availability.

Training and evaluation exercises will be provided for selected candidates.
