Job Description

CNBC Digital is looking for a talented Lead Producer to join its growing video team under the NYC-based Make It brand. CNBC Make It is a fast-growing, consumer-friendly section of CNBC, devoted to aspirational content about entrepreneurship, leadership, careers, and money.

The Lead Producer will be working with the Supervising Producer to lead production for our new video course initiative. This includes everything from developing new video courses to booking high-quality experts, to writing scripts and workbooks, to building courses in our learning management system. This manager will guide and mentor a producer, and work with animators, freelancers, video editors and section editors.

Responsibilities

What you’ll do:

PLEASE NOTE: This is a short term position with an estimated duration of 6 months, otherwise amended or terminated as deliverables within this project are completed

  • Produce original video courses focusing on personal finance, success, leadership, work and other topics on brand for CNBC Make It’s millennial and Gen Z audience
  • Book high-quality guests and coordinate professional on-location shoot logistics
  • Write and produce original videos under tight deadlines
  • Write accompanying workbooks
  • Collaborate with animators and video editors to achieve dynamic, visual video courses
  • Build courses in learning management system
  • Generate unique, original video pitches both independently and in partnership with reporters for new courses

  • Works more than 1,000 hours per measurement period: 
  • Eligible for 401K after 1,000 hours worked in 12 consecutive months

  • Salary Range: $95,000-$150,000

Qualifications

What you’ll bring:

  • At least 5 years of experience with all aspects of digital video production including producing, scripting, reporting
  • At least 2 years of experience as a Producer in a newsroom
  • Passion for all things millennial and Gen Z, business and consumer news, the future of the workplace, personal finance and other industry topics that matter.
  • Mastery of Adobe Premiere, Photoshop; technical knowledge of cameras and industry standard equipment and tools
  • Script and/or voice-over writing experience
  • Highly collaborative and creative attitude, a willingness to work across departments
  • Experience in telling impactful stories and mentoring others to do the same
  • Understanding of the technical side of production
  • Experience in teaching and mentoring others on technical skills
  • Demonstrated knowledge of multimedia storytelling, working knowledge of online publishing systems and technologies, and rights and clearances
  • Broad knowledge of current events and financial news
  • Excellent project managing qualities
  • Demonstrated excellent organizational and time management skills and the ability to work well under deadline pressure
  • Efficient and detailed at fact-checking and sourcing; able to cascade that knowledge to others
  • Strong interest in innovative video storytelling and strategic thinking for the CNBC Make It brand
  • Ability to influence stakeholders and steer conversations about content as well as interviews
  • Solid editorial judgment
  • Flexible mindset as our workflow evolves
