Today, the luxury book market has become an indispensable tool for luxury brands. Beyond “beautiful books” Assouline is invested in the promotion of culture. It has created the “first brand of luxury culture” by opening boutiques where one can discover a world of good taste, excitement and intellect, a place where “culture can be acquired” within a luxurious environment. One can purchase complete book collections as well as objects that belong in contemporary libraries such as perfumed candles and “cabinets of curiosities."


Assouline is seeking a creative and detail-oriented Product Curator/Buyer to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for curating and merchandising a diverse range of consumer products with a keen focus on quality and visual appeal. Your primary objective will be to meticulously organize product images into designated categories and maintain an orderly product list on Excel spreadsheets.


Key Responsibilities:


Curate Product Selection:


  • Research and evaluate products across various categories for inclusion in our retail inventory or interiors projects.
  • Research Vintage books, objects, and art pieces through auctions and other means for stores and special projects.
  • Write provenance and sales information for all objects.
  • Organize and categorize products in a visually appealing and coherent manner.
  • Create and maintain detailed Excel spreadsheets to catalog product information.
  • Ensure accuracy, completeness, and organization of product data.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams to align product curation with overall business goals.
  • Communicate effectively with vendors to obtain necessary product information and assets.
  • Knowledge of Décor and Books a must; understanding of curation for curated library.
  • Implement quality control measures to guarantee that all products meet our standards.
  • Regularly review and update product information to reflect changes or additions.


Qualifications:


  • 3-5 years of experience in product curation and merchandising, preferably in a retail or interior design setting.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to efficiently manage large sets of data in Excel.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and a passion for maintaining visual coherence.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Familiarity with current market trends and consumer preferences.
  • French is a plus.

The appointed candidate will be offered a salary of $75,000-$85,000. Please note that the foregoing compensation information is a good-faith assessment associated with this position only and is provided pursuant to the New York City Salary Transparency Law.
