ORBIS is seeking a Project Engineer to work on site at the Yorktown Naval Weapons Station (Yorktown, VA) in support of our RADIAC and RADCON Professional Services Contract, providing lifecycle support for radiation detection equipment. The selected candidate will qualify and be assigned as the Lead Engineer for a portfolio of portable and installed radiation detection instruments or air samplers.
Responsibilities include:
Provide Acquisition Support to the Navy RADIAC Program which includes:
Participate in the development of technical specifications, acceptance tests plans/procedures and technical data requirements.
Review Technical Data Packages developed by equipment vendors such as drawings, technical manuals, and test reports.
Develop equipment calibration procedures for use by Navy RADIAC Calibration Laboratories.
Participate in First Article and Production testing.
Provide Equipment Lifecycle Management Support for in-service equipment which includes:
Review Engineering Change Proposals: develop equipment field changes as needed.
Conduct failure analysis, calibration interval analysis, reliability-centered maintenance (RCM) analysis, and periodic Life Cycle Audits; manage RADIAC assets and repair parts.
Prepare technical data package and coordinate logistical support for equipment fielding.
Develop defielding and demilitarization procedures for obsolete equipment.
Lead Engineers provide direct support regarding their assigned equipment to Navy RADIAC customers, provide project updates to the RADIAC Program Office though participation in quarterly program reviews, and support the managers, as peer reviewers and through participation in special projects.
US citizenship is required. Additionally, applicant must be willing to travel occasionally to customer locations.
Required Skills and Experience:
Applicant must demonstrate good oral and written communication skills, interpersonal skills, and troubleshooting/problem-solving abilities.
Experience working with radiation detection equipment (especially dosimetry equipment) or in Naval Nuclear Propulsion Program is desired, but not required.
Must be a U.S. citizen.
A secret security clearance
Degree Requirements:
BS in electrical, mechanical, radiological, or nuclear engineering, health physics, or physical sciences, from an accredited university.
