Base pay range
Oglethorpe Power is looking for a skilled Project Engineering Manager who'll be pivotal to driving new-generation work. This person will guide the design and engineering phases of new gas-fired power plants from conceptual design through construction and startup. The Project Engineering Manager will manage the Owner's Engineer, a contracted multi-disciplinary team of resources, and act as the primary technical conscience for OPC's new generation construction efforts while serving as the lead for engineering and design approval requests and change notices.
Job Duties:
- Full cycle of engineering and design process for new gas-fired power plants, ensuring compliance with OPC standards and objectives.
- Direct the Owner's Engineer contract and team, including budget oversight and technical guidance.
- Act as the primary point of contact for all engineering and design approval requests, change notices, and technical requests for information.
- Ensure comprehensive review and validation of design deliverables by collaborating with internal departments and stakeholders.
- Maintain the engineering budget of $10M+ and resources, ensuring effective use of funding allocated for the Owner's Engineer contracted scope of work.
- Manage and supervise a team of engineering resources, including 20+ third-party engineering resources and 3-5 OPC engineering resources.
- Promote a culture of technical excellence and continuous improvement within the project engineering discipline.
Required Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor's degree in Engineering. A Professional Engineer (PE) license is highly desired.
Experience: A minimum of 10 years in power generation with at least 5 years directly supporting the construction or operation of combined cycle power plants is required. Experience with the design and construction of combined cycle power plants is desired. Previous experience as an engineering manager leading multi-disciplinary engineering teams is required. Demonstrated expertise in engineering and project management is essential.
Specialized Skills: Strong leadership capabilities, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively across departments. Proficiency in project management and engineering software is essential.
Travel: 25-50%
Unusual hours required of this position: Travel to project sites to provide direct oversight of engineering activities and associated construction works
