LHH is working with a local distribution company that needs a new Regional Transportation Manager. They are rapidly growing and this role will have a chance to steer strategy as well as culture. The leader this role will report into is looking for a true partnership with this person - they aren't a micromanager! They want to turn this person loose as the resident expert on transportation and safety management. Strong communication skills and willingness to think outside of the box to creatively problem solve will take someone far with this team. Here are some details:
Duties:
Multi-site management: will oversee transportation and distribution functions for two sites. They're growing so this is subject to increase. Heavy travel is not expected!
Driver and DOT compliance: Overseeing HOS, DQ file management, accident investigations, and safety training.
Working on workers' comp - mostly Driver accidents. Working with insurance company on claims. They have someone dedicated to the fleet itself
New hire training during onboarding to make sure new hires understand safety policy, occupational overview, and ensuring that they understand equipment safety
Leading SQF audits monthly in each facility - traveling throughout NC and SC for that
Leading SQF certification process for new facilities!
Experience Required:
Driver and DOT safety compliance
Experience building out a transportation safety program, improving current safety policies, and coaching Drivers
Understanding of warehouse environment - forklift and pallet jack safety
At least three years in a safety-focused leadership role
Preferred Experience:
Food safety and SQF experience
Experience working with Class C Drivers
Soft Skills:
Personable - able to get folks engaged during training!
Flexible mindset - willingness to think outside of the box and consider new possibilities
Willing to live in the gray - creative problem solving
Reasonably nice person! Easy going and easy to get along with - this team will do well with someone who doesn't take themselves too seriously and truly considers themselves part of this team
Compensation: $70-95K - not currently bonus eligible
