As a Senior Accountant, you will play a key role in the company's financial operations and ensure internal and external compliance. This position will be responsible for general ledger accounting, tax compliance and accounts payable and perform complex tasks, including journal entries, reconciliations, and verifying financial transactions. The role requires strong accounting & analytical skills, change management skills, and expertise in US GAAP.


The Senior Accountant will report to the VP, Finance & Accounting, and be an integral part of the Finance & Accounting team. This individual will work to ensure the integrity of the general ledger, deliver timely and accurate financial reporting, and drive continuous improvement in our processes. The candidate must have the ability to concurrently advance multiple tasks and projects with limited supervision; provide effective business solutions and collaborate with senior management in problem resolution. Candidate must be self-managed and self-motivated as well as effectively organize time and efforts to meet deadlines.


Responsibilities:


  • Prepare error-free financial reports, perform research and analysis, maintain the general ledger including the accuracy of all balance sheet accounts, perform account reconciliations, assist with audit preparations, and carry out other accounting duties as required.
  • Prepare and review financial statements, ensuring accuracy and compliance with GAAP.
  • Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls.
  • Review and recommend modifications to accounting systems and procedures.
  • Investigate and resolve audit findings, account discrepancies, and issues of non-compliance.
  • Have primary responsibility for the day-to-day activities of accounts payable including the processing and payment of all AP and expense reports to ensure the accurate recording of all expenses and the maintenance of vendor files and contracts.
  • Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis to support strategic decision-making.
  • Manage tax compliance and reporting, including preparation of federal, state, and local tax returns as well as W9 and 1099 maintenance and filings.
  • Coordinate with external auditors, accountants, bankers, and regulatory agencies as needed.
  • Respond to department and management requests and special projects as they arise.
  • Assist with Payroll as necessary.
  • Cross train in other areas of Finance & Accounting for coverage as needed.
  • Supervise and mentor junior accounting staff, providing guidance and support as needed.


Qualifications:


  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting required, CPA preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of accounting experience, preferably in a financial services or advisory firm.
  • Experience working with intercompany accounts is required.
  • Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, vlookups, filters, etc.) is required.
  • Experience with QuickBooks, Sage Intacct, or similar software and experience with Expensify, Concur or similar software is desired.
  • Experience in accounting systems implementation is a plus.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and shift priorities to meet day-to-day operational needs and deadlines.
  • Demonstrated ability to take the lead and work independently on projects.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide excellent customer service and develop internal and external relationships.
