Job Summary

Participate in the provision of Staff Ride Support to the Army University Press. This includes conducting Staff Rides (Preliminary Study, Field Study, Integration), building new and revising existing Staff Rides (research and development of Staff Ride materials), assisting units with staff rides (providing classes, guidance, and information), and creating for publication a Staff Ride Handbook.

Required Skills & Certifications

  • Master's Degree in History OR related field; or Bachelor's Degree in History or related field and enrolled and actively pursuing Master's Degree in History or a related field.
  • Ability to speak, write, and communicate effectively.
  • Ability to advise, counsel, direct, and evaluate students engaged in course assignments.
  • Proficient with MS Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Adobe Acrobat Professional
  • Shall be able to read a map and navigate by road and by foot to various locations in both the field and virtual environments.

Desired Skills & Certifications

  • A minimum of two years of planning and leading staff rides in accordance with the three-phased methodology: Preliminary Study Phase, Field Study Phase, and Integration Phase.
  • Possess a working knowledge of current Army and Joint doctrine.

Physical Requirements

  • Shall possess the physical stamina to negotiate rough, uneven terrain. For example, certain staff rides require personnel to be able to walk up to five miles without assistance while carrying up to 15 pounds of educational materials.
  • Personnel shall be comfortable working outdoors in a variety of weather conditions.
