Job Position: Shift Maintenance Mechanic

Job Location: Stone Mountain, GA

Reports To: Maintenance Manager

Job Summary:

Diagnoses and performs mechanical and electrical repairs and maintenance on the cup machines, inspectors, baggers, screw-drives, pre-expansion machines, conveyors and tubing and on other assigned machines.

Core Job Responsibilities:

  • Diagnose problems by inspecting and disassembling equipment to determine extent of repairs necessary.
  • Performs mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, pneumatic and hydro repairs to the cup machines, inspectors, bagging machines, screw stackers, pre-expansion machines, conveyors and tubing.
  • Uses drawings, diagrams, and operational manuals, manufacturing specifications, etc., when diagnosing problems and making repairs.
  • Repairs and re-build parts such as lift, bagger, pre-expansion and inspector cylinders along with pneumatic valves, steam and air regulators, hydraulic pumps and systems.
  • Required to perform tests and maintenance on electrical instrumentation, interpret readings and outputs of equipment: ensures proper function of equipment.
  • Performs basic troubleshooting of ladder logic, relay logic: operates PLCs, RTUs and associated inputs/outputs: familiar with VFDs and understands basic electrical/electronic from 24v to 240v.
  • Makes up and replaces lengths of steam hoses, air and water lines to include pipe threading.
  • Assists other Maintenance Mechanics while working on production machines and associated equipment.
  • Obtains hot work permit and completes minor welding jobs.
  • Notifies the Maintenance Lead about any needed repairs that are outside of their scope of responsibility or ability to repair.
  • Perform all work in a safe manner to include following specific procedures for lock-out/tag-out of equipment before making any repairs.
  • Communicate with production supervisors and co-workers on the status of equipment repairs.
  • Maintain housekeeping standards by keeping a clean and safe work area at all times.
  • Follow all GMP and sanitation guidelines along with maintaining a high level of personal hygiene.
  • Attend meeting and training session as required.
  • Follows WinCup OPERA Values, safety initiatives, and other related plant standards.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Shift Supervisor, Maintenance Lead or Maintenance Manager including special projects and working with outside vendors, getting vendor quotes and working with contractors while on site.


Competencies:

  • Ability to follow directives with STM leadership, managers, supervisors, in ensuring productivity and target levels are sustained.
  • Ensures all company policies and procedures including manufacturing and safety policies and procedures are followed at all times.
  • Collaboration with plant, safety, and leadership.
  • Ability to complete mandated new manufacturing training on equipment to maximize output efficiencies.
  • Supports all current and new product introductions.


Education and Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • 4 or more years’ experience in maintenance in a manufacturing environment.
  • Mechanical aptitude, basic welding skills or willing to learn and manual dexterity.
  • Troubleshooting and repairing production machines and/or lines
  • Must be able to speak, read and write English in order to complete job specific paperwork.
  • Ability to work independently and function as a team member.
  • Ability to obtain a forklift certification.
  • Good planning and organizing skills.
  • Experience working with equipment used to operate, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair electrical and mechanical equipment, instrumentation, and related systems.
  • Work mandatory overtime, early morning, late evenings and weekends when required during busy season, inventory, and for vacation coverage.


Working Conditions:

  • In-doors in a manufacturing and/or environment that is not air-conditioned.
  • Exposure to extreme heat.
  • Wear PPE while working which includes hairnet, hearing protection and safety glasses with side guards.
  • May work 8 hour shift or 12 hour shift that begins at 6:50 a.m. for dayshift or a nightshift that begins 6:50 p.m.
  • Required to work weekdays, weekends and overtime as needed.
  • Subject to on-call activity to ensure equipment is functional.


Physical Demands:

  • Work 8 or 12-hour shift while standing, walking, stooping, bending, reaching, grasping and lifting throughout the entire shift.
  • Requires the manual movement of cases of finished goods and other objects such as bagger film that weight up to 40 pounds.
  • 100% tobacco free workplace on all Company premises. Designated outside smoking area provided and must be followed.


Other:

  • Must have own tools and multi-meter (specialty tools provided by the Company)
