Position Summary The Wage Garnishments Specialist is responsible for specific payroll related wage garnishment applications and reporting. This position’s overall responsibility is to oversee the payroll garnishment operation and related activities.
Responsibilities and Tasks:
The essential functions include, but are not limited to, the following fundamental duties:
Primarily responsible for administration of WGPS services:
Receive liens/child support orders from plant locations and/or counts, identify employee’s plant location, and enter payee names into payroll system.
Perform payroll transactions related to garnishments to include set-up, data entry, garnishment interpretation, updating deductions data according to established timelines and SOPs.
Provide answers to garnishments and/or court notices as required within prescribed time limits.
Interact with various departments within and outside (e.g. check collection agency, court, lawyer, etc.) answering questions and resolving issues.
Respond to routine inquiries from employees concerning garnishment deductions.
Effectively examine, setup, process and reconcile garnishments.
Keep current with changing procedures and legislation.
Escalate non-routine inquiries and issues to Manager.
Adhere to state and federal guidelines when handling garnishment orders.
Scan, email, and copy letters to plant payroll for employee file.
Responsible for timely/accurate payments to agencies for WGPS deductions from employees pay.
Complete special projects as assigned by department management
Perform other related duties as assigned.

EDUCATION and CERTIFICATIONS:
High School diploma or equivalent
Experience And Skills
Minimum six (6) years' clerical based experience
Minimum three (3) years' experience in garnishment administration
Knowledge of various types of garnishments , including federal, state and local legal requirements relating to garnishments
Knowledge of payroll processing procedures
Strong computer and math based skills
Ability to research and follow-up with agencies concerning garnishments payments
Ability to keep sensitive information confidential and to appropriately handle critical situations with tact and diplomacy
Ability to work in a fast paced environment using excellent organizational skills and precise attention to detail
Must possess a strong customer-centric attitude, high energy level and a strong sense of urgency
