Position Summary

Responsibilities

The Munroe-Meyer Institute (MMI) for Genetics and Rehabilitation at the University of Nebraska Medical Center (UNMC) in Omaha is currently accepting applications for a faculty position in the Department of Speech-Language Pathology (SLP) as an Assistant/Associate Professor. Rank will depend on qualifications. As clinical faculty in the MMI SLP department, this individual will be responsible for conducting clinical, translational or other applicable research within their area of clinical specialty, grant-writing, and training of entry-level, clinical and/or graduate level students. Responsibilities broadly encompass:

Research: Developing and maintaining clinical research expertise within topics related to SLP services; pursuing and securing extramural funding for clinical/translational research; developing and participating in interdisciplinary and intercampus research, program development, and training; supervising of postdoc/inter/graduate student research projects.

Clinical: Providing diagnosis and treatment to individuals with speech, language, voice or swallowing disorders; developing clinical service programs that serve children and adults with a range of diagnoses, establishing community partnerships that support functional communication, and provide oversight of such programs/partnerships.

Education: Developing and instructing graduate and/or post-graduate students at a level commensurate with experience and scholarly credentials; developing and teaching classes in masters and doctoral degree programs at MMI; providing lectures, workshops, and training opportunities in interdisciplinary settings in MMI departments and programs and community partners; presenting at local, regional or national conferences in areas relevant to expertise.

Required Qualifications

  • Doctoral degree in Speech-Language Pathology or related area (Strong ABD candidate considered)
  • Licensure or license eligibility to practice speech-language pathology in the state of Nebraska
  • Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP) from American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA)
  • Minimum one year of experience in the provision of speech-language pathology services

Supplemental Qualifications

  • Experience in pediatric dysphagia, AAC, or autism
  • Skills in public speaking and presentations.
