The Senior Manager, AI Product Development reports to the Head of Technology, Digital Solutions.
The Senior Manager, AI Product Development role will provide leadership for AI product development focused on external healthcare customer facing solutions supporting HCPs, HCOs, payors etc.
The Senior Manager, AI Product Development role will work with cross-functional teams to plan, develop, and deliver state of the art Data Science solutions supporting our patients and customers.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Define strategy to build high performing AI product development teams. Formulate team goals to support business growth objectives, performance management, recruit, develop and retain talent to support business needs
Provides technical and functional leadership for a highly skilled product AI team (data engineers, data scientists, software architects etc.) to accomplish team goals
Responsible for on-time and high-quality delivery of product focused AI solutions in collaboration with cross-functional teams across Digital Solutions and Medical Device divisions
Provides leadership to define development methodologies, build project plans, establish development estimate practices, project resource allocation, ensure relevant technology stack (development environment and toolchains) for continuous integration and continuous deployment
Challenge and coach team members as well as external partners to push for optimal insights and optimized/tailored/high-impact scalable data science solutions
Develop team processes, prioritize data science work, develop team roadmaps and deliverables, and provide hands on coaching and review of work performed by team
Define and ensure implementation of data science standards for exploration, development, and deployment
Develops budget estimates, obtains capital resources to deliver business goals. Contributes to business unit and divisional strategy planning
Provides mentorship and career development oversight for direct report employees
Critical Success Indicators:
Successfully built and commercialized multiple enterprise grade Product AI solutions and services from concept through launch using agile processes in both consumer tech and med tech
Demonstrated experience in creating data science solutions that seamlessly fit into customer and patient desired workflows
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Required:
Master or PhD in relevant field (e.g., applied mathematics, computer science, engineering, applied statistics)
12+ years of relevant working experience in AI product development, 5+ years being a people manager
Experience in leading a data science team, ideally on- and offshore. Solid experience working on full-lifecycle data science; experience in applying data science methods to business problems
Possesses a deep understanding of data science methodologies and concepts
Strong experience in e.g., data mining, statistical modelling, predictive modelling, and development of machine learning algorithms
Strong customer centric approach with outstanding leadership and organizational skills
Ability to communicate complex quantitative analysis in a clear, precise, actionable manner
In-depth knowledge of software architecture styles, design patterns, and architectural principles
Proficiency in one or more programming languages, such as Java, C#, Python, or JavaScript
Experience with cloud computing platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes)
Proficient in tools like Azure ML SDK, Azure Data Factory, Databricks, Spark, or related technologies
Strong understanding of database technologies (e.g., SQL, NoSQL) and data modeling principles
Significant experience working with agile software development methods, such as scrum and Kanban and exposure to working within CI/CD pipelines
Experience incorporating Security by Design principles into AI product development
Strong verbal, written and presentation skills with ability to build trust
Results oriented with focused urgency, prioritization skills and ability to recognize/escalate issues appropriately
Demonstrated ability to adapt to evolving technologies and industry trends
Preferred:
Medical Device experience
Experience working in an FDA-regulated business (e.g. validated software related to medical, pharmaceutical, or life sciences products) is preferred
Solid understanding of the design thinking process, as well as a passion and know-how for influencing design strategy
Experience with microservices architecture and distributed systems
